Sober Bartender/Server

I’m working on my sobriety but serve alcohol all day I’m a bartender. Does anyone else have experience with this!

No, but sometimes I wish I did so I could remember how foolish some people get (like me) when they start drinking :joy::neutral_face:

I forget way to often that I can be an idiot after one drink… I’d love to be on the other end and have to serve myself just once- maybe that would cure me :joy:

Actually, I think there are some sober bartenders (@jaimelee, @SteveV, @Alyssa_Peacock, @duganlm) on here as well and others in the related industry.

Great point.

I work as a bartender. And I’ve always put a barrier between my customers and myself. I never would go and grab a drink with one before and we are not allowed to drink at my place of work if we worked that day. So who would want to go to work on there day off for a drink? It makes it easy for me now and I really love their policy. But I work in a place with lots of rotating taps and I have no idea what any of them taste like. Hard to sell someone on something you don’t know. And we just came out with a new cocktail menu. But I just explain to customers they can do a taster of beer if they would like as I have not tried it myself. The hardest part about working in the industry is my wonderful co-workers. I’ve been sober 18 days and have set a goal to do 100 days sober but none of them think I can make it. I don’t think I can say forever right now but 100 days is an acceptable challenge for me for now.

Sort of. I work at a bar as a karaoke host. And i drink for free. So it’s hard.

I’m a waitress and serve a lot of alcohol. I serve all night and am tired after work so I don’t go out with my coworkers, instead I just chill at home and don’t show up the next day/night with a hangover! I know a couple of sober bartenders and servers since we all live in a resort town where alcohol is everywhere. I think it kind of helps honestly because you see how ridiculous people get because of alcohol and then are happy that you won’t be them the next day!

Ive been a server for ten years but the last two years i switched from family dining to a sports bar and there was hard for me because everyone drank so much and it annoyed me. Now i work at a resturant thast sells liquor but its not relvoled around getting hammered its more family and I love it more. It doesn’t bother me being around it I just like that everyone’s trying to be more responsible

I’m one day sober. I am also a bartender. I don’t have experience with this as it’s only day one

I’m also a bartender and just getting started, we could buddy up!

I posted this sometime ago. But I’m back to being sober as well. October 25th. But let me know if I can help in anyway. I’m still in the industry but looking to get out. It’s been a whole new level of stress since covid.
