11 days...feeling unwell

Hey all. First time posting here. I am 11 days sober from alcohol. I have been feeling great thus far, but last night I had horrific night sweats and today I feel beyond exhausted and almost flu like. I know it’s not the flu, my sixth sense is telling me it is from alcohol… or lack thereof. What do you all think? Have you experienced something similar? I have never gone this long without booze… I feel bad but this time I refuse to give in. I’m feeling physically bad but happy as heck that I have gotten this far!

Oh, yes! I had the night sweats up until recently. I’m still feeling exhausted, but I think my overall quality of sleep has improved. I’m on day 25.

Yes, I felt like I had the worse hangover in my life, for about a week…

Yes! I wake up so thirsty, as if I am hungover. I still wake up expecting to feel like crap. Not used to waking up not filled with regret lol.

I treated it like a hangover…lots of fluid, vitamins, and ate my weight in sugar…craved it in the beginning

The first 10-12 days, I chugged water like I had never tasted it before lol thankfully, my body doesn’t need that anymore, but the sleep does get better!

Thank you for the advice. I have upped my B Vitamin and L-glutamine doses and let myself indulge in some beautiful carbs ️. I am usually crazy about food intake but I figure I’m saving alcohol calories so I can indulge!

Water has been my bff. And I think I’m sleeping better… besides the sweat and crazy dreams… I find myself in a much better mood everyday. Lack of good sleep turns me into a demon so I really think I am getting more “good” sleep.

Search vitamins in the search function…lot of good stuff to be found…and if it keeps you sober, indulge all you want…those cravings go away

I agree! I’m definitely getting better sleep as well which is such a wonderful thing, because like you, I’m cranky as hell when I don’t get enough. And my dreams are still crazy, but that’s okay!

This is very common. Hang In there it does get much better but those feeling a will pop in there from time to time.

I felt the same like I had the flu… My symptoms lasted for the first 5 weeks… Still get an urge for a drink every now and then but I’m 84 days in and I keep reminding myself of 5 weeks of pure hell… Hang in there it does get better.

Flu-like symptoms. Yep, that about sums it up! Night sweats ( for me, those started around day 9), low grade headache, physical and emotional shakiness, thirsty, bone weary fatigue, and insomnia. Those first days and weeks are so hard, but it is perfectly normal. I promise that it gets better - and then it gets so much better!
