I always break on the second day of detox but I make to the third this time & there is no going back. Any advice
Just don’t touch that first drink , when you feel like it do some press ups
Hi @Faithxhope. My advice is in my experience there are moments in the day you may get tempted. These will pass. I promise. The days will stack up and the cravings will ease.
I agree with @Tim I hit the 7 day mark today and I have been so productive. I usually mope around on Sundays but today I woke up early ran errands went to church cooked cleaned then when I sat down at around 6pm I got a craving for some wine. I immediately got up and gave myself a pedicure lol. But I beat the craving and it passed. I’m proud of myself and you should be too. Just keep busy and the cravings will pass.
Thank you everyone, I keep my mind strong & try to make the best out of it. This group is a great support system! Love u guys good night ! 3 day 5 hours down. Can’t wait for my pink cloud !!!
Find a support group such as AA. Get a sponsor or support list, lean on these people when you are struggling.
Connecting with people who understand is amazing.
Good luck! All I can tell you from experience is that the first 3 days is the hardest. Once you get passed that it’s all down hill from there. Still not easy… don’t get me wrong… just down hill. Until you hit about 33 days, then I found myself going crazy and eventually relapsing again. I’m going through the same process myself all over again. It never gets easier. I also must advise for you to seriously find a sponsor. I didn’t know how important that was until I got to 33 days and started having horrible cravings. Tried reaching out to people but obviously they weren’t qualified to deal with my shit. I relapsed and here I am again just trying to get through the first 3 days all over again.
Only asking because I’ve only made it to 27 days before. What was it for you that made that 30-33 day period so hard? I’ve heard different things about the cravings getting so much easier/lesser after 30 days or so. I know everyone is different.
All I can tell you is all of the sudden, the craving didn’t just go away after a few minutes like usual. Every where I went just on normal routes I couldn’t stop thinking about getting something to drink. Every excuse that came to mind I rationalized. It just sucked. I tried calling the people closest to me and they just didn’t help. They probably didn’t know how. I regret not having a sponsor to reach out to. If I had one, I truly believe I wouldn’t have relapsed.
Going on my 4th day, totally new at this. Do the cravings ever stop? It’s like I have nothing to look forward to anymore.
I’m on 6 and i truly think today i finally feel somewhat ok. Just drinking my coffee and thinking about what I’m gonna do to keep busy so i don’t even think about drinking or any other substances to get me by. Good luck!! Stay busy, even if you’re not in the mood. Small project of some kind or meetings are really good too. I’ve been going to one every day since i quit.
@NeverGiveup I can’t help but laugh, that post was from Dec.!
Do you mean you’re on day 6 or 6 months? I’m on day 98 now. Funny to read what I wrote then. Scared with mad cravings and feeling helpless. What a difference 98 days makes! Hope your sobriety journey is going well!
Lol… now it’s 7 days.
Your on a roll! Don’t look back, we are cheering you on! You got this! 1 day at a time.
Good looking out!!
