I literally took a hike today. A long one. It was good. Love the North Sea beach on a cool breezy weekday.

Went on a hike with my little guy on the weekend. Saw his first waterfall. He was in awe :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
Did about 6km. What a nice day spent together. He did great.
Here he is checking out a little river down over the bank

That’s a good distance too! Especially carrying such a huge backpack. I guess you had him carry all the water and food.
:sunglasses:

lol he did carry his water bottle and a little snack baggy and granola bar (he is constantly hungry so the snacks didn’t last long) :joy: I didn’t bring any for myself.
On the hike on the way back, it was a lot of rougher terrain uphill and he asked me to carry backpack. He got a few steps without it and asked for it back, as he said it helped him (I think it gave him more balance)

Fabulous photos everyone! I don’t have any of my jaunt today but I was out for something like 3 hours with a friend. We probably only covered something like 5 miles but I haven’t been out walking for that long for ages. Got to explore some bits of my local area I haven’t been to yet.

Four years ago I was training for a 34 mile walk. I am so far away from that at the moment and honestly it makes me pretty sad sometimes. I know it is a massive first world problem! But there is also something really nice about plodding along and taking everything in at a slower pace. Not trying to achieve a particular distance or time and hopefully not overdoing it too much. I reckon I will pay for it a bit next week. Worth it though!

Thinking about doing Camino de Santiago. Guidebook says a 50L pack is adequate for the trip. That’s good because my current pack (Teton Explorer 65L) is about 5 pounds. Can anyone recommend a solid pack around 50L and around 3 pounds? And a quilt/sleeping bag good to at least 40 degrees, in the same weight range?

From memory @Eke and possibly @HoofHearted might have some kit recommendations

Sorry if I’ve got that wrong. My memory is pretty shit

It’s because I am not doing any hiking so not keeping it bumped up!

I love seeing everyone’s adventures tho and always get excited when I see people have posted here :relaxed:

I use an REI Flash 55. Weighs in at 2 lbs 10 oz.

No frills, no gimmicks, just a pack to hold my gear.

I use it for 3 to 5 day hikes.

For sleeping bag, I have a Marmot Trestles Elite eco 20. It’s rated for 32° (comfort). It’s light weight and packs down nice.
