3 weeks sober

Tonight marks 3 weeks sober, 21 days. I can train longer, I am excelling at work, and I sleep so much better. It was at the 2 week Mark I really noticed a difference. Also dropped about 7 pounds. Easier to stick to a healthy diet when sober. I really want to thank my Muay thai coach. He would check in on me, and gave me something to focus on. Now that I can train since I’m not drinking, I am starting to train for a fight in 4 months. I need to drop 35 pounds by then, so I have a goal to work towards. Best thing I did when those cravings came, is remember the reason she why I quit, and how I need to work on the man I want to be. How I want to get out of my own personal hell that I built around me. Every day I am climbing out of it, one step at a time.

Congratulations!! I wish I was losing weight. No such luck yet. LOL

Nice work! You are very clear on your goals. Amazing progress so far :+1:

Ahhh. I just realised this was November…hope it’s all still going well @Atticus880

Haha thanks rabbit, it is. Almost 2 and half months ober. More weight, better shape and better mood. Light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter

Lol. Great news! good here. Days ticking over well, liver beginning to forgive me👍

How long have you been in the greener side of the grass? My doctor told me 6 months for my liver to forgive me

Ahhhh. I’m fully expecting it to take at least 6 months. But already noticing liver thank you signs - clear eyes, better skin and weight loss at only 15 days in. I did have an 18 month dry spell in 2010/2011. So I guess I gave it a little break then too :confounded:

I know for me, I started feeling better at 2 weeks. Liver did feel better then too. It’s funny how bad alcohol is for us.

I am one week in. What can I look for in “liver recovery”? Not sure of symptoms, good or bad. Thanks.

Well “liver recovery” starts on day 1. I would look for first signs at 2 weeks. Energy. A lot of people say it and it is true. You will have more energy. Liver can help the body properly with digestion and energy levels soar. Also better sleep and less anxiety. After 2 weeks, it depends on how damaged you liver is. Other things go you’ll see is weight loss from not drinking. That can start in 2 weeks also. Then there is a 3 month mark. Lose more weight, healthier skin, clearer mind. 6 months is where fatty liver will be healed. I’ll let you know how that feels when I get there. Definitely go to your doctor to get your liver tested.

Thanks! Lots to look forward to!

I look forward to having more energy. Especially during workouts. I used to do an hour of cardio every day. I don’t know the last time that I did more than 15-20 minutes. I’m only 4 days in so far, but I’m really excited. My workout buddy/friend/coworker seems to be able to run forever. I’d like to be able to keep up. Thanks for the inspiration!

You got this bro. 2 weeks out and you will definitely see a difference. Keep it up

I’ve done a little research and am still unclear. @Atticus880, are you saying the liver will start healing from fatty liver disease after 6 months or will be healed after 6 months?

@BigRich I have ABSOLUTELY noticed a difference with cardio. I’m not a runner by any stretch of the imagination, but yesterday I was on the treadmill and I WANTED to run😆 years of forcing myself to train, and now my body is almost wanting to burn energy. Hang in there. I felt gradually so much better after day 8.

Oh and as far as early happy liver signs, the whites of my eyes were ‘yellowish’ in the corners. This has all but disappeared :+1:

Liver starts healing right away. It is one of the few organs that can repair itself. At my level, it will take 6 months to heal. From my understanding from my doctor, it will take me 6 months to heal completely from the damage I did. That is the usual recommended amount of time for a severe cases of fatty liver. Best suggestion I can make is go see your doctor to know how bad you are. I did a blood test, had elevated liver enzymes, so they gave me an ultrasound on my liver. Only a doctor can tell you how bad and how long you need

Last blood work I had done I also had elevated enzyme levels. Doctor didn’t bother assigning an ultrasound though. I’m sure after 23 years of drinking and 15 years of heavy hard alcohol usage my liver is in rough shape…
