Hi guys, I hope youâre all keeping safe & well ![]()
3 years ago today, I got sober.
Fueled with the absolute fear of god in me to save my relationship with my partner and with my own health, I made the choice and did the thing that scared me straight out of my wits.
I learned so much about myself during those first 2 years; I could socialise without alcohol, I could be a better partner, I took up running and learned I could run Marathons. I learned Breathwork & Meditation and managed to navigate through the loss of our eldest dog Nova, and then the loss of my Dad soon after.
This time last year I would wake up in a full house with a partner, many pets, and always something happening. Life had a steady familiar rhythm and felt safe again.
I had no clue the real fight for my sobriety was just around the corner; 2 months later my partner of 10 years left me for another guy, and I had to move back home and live on my own for the first time in my life in the flat where my Dad passed away. A flat Iâm now proud to say Iâve managed to rebuild around me, along with myself.
These last 8 months Iâve learned to lean on myself more than ever, and Iâm learning day by day that I am strong enough to lean on, even when it feels impossible.
I ran my second Marathon, took the lead in planning my Grandmotherâs funeral after she passed this year and continued to keep my Teaching business going strong. I also learned to fold every piece of laundry known to mankind & I can make a frightening air fryer Chicken Madras, all while keeping 2 houseplants alive ![]()
Itâs been a long dark fight this year, and Iâm no way healed yet, but Iâm learning and Iâm ready to fight on ![]()
I wish everyone strength today and sending all my love wherever you are ![]()
