4 months no weed, how do you stop the craving?

I’m 4 months sober after 22 years of smoking weed daily. My fiance is out of town this weekend. I’m laying around watching tv and got some pretty bad cravings to take a small puff to relax. I’m reminding myself how I’ve been more clear headed, focusing on my fitness, eating cleaner. Why ruin it. It’s still tough. How do you cope with your craving?

My DOC is booze, but I think when you bring it here (or to a meeting), when you speak it out loud to another person it loses power over you. It helps if the other person is also an addict in recovery.

I agree that speaking it takes away its power. That’s what I do when I get that sudden urge for something. I know I don’t really want it, so I play the tape out.

I’m not sure if those craving moments ever go away. Acting on those behaviors was our default setting for so long that of course our brains still see it as a viable option. Reminding your subconscious that that is in fact NOT what you want is key.

Maybe a meeting with like minded people would help . wish you well and the cravings will go away
