I’ve been debating for awhile. Even before I stopped using I was considering going to a narcotics Anonymous meeting. I was wondering if anyone here has gone to a groupe meeting of any kind. Did it help ?
I’m going to an AA meeting everyday at the moment, im 42 days clean and have been to a meeting everyday. I find hope in the rooms and faith that something must be working in what people there are doing because there is years of sobriety there. I’ve gone in this time with an open mind and willing to learn. I’m understanding more about this illness and building strength to fight it. I’d say give it a go
@Nikkij13 when you went there the first time how was it? Was it welcoming or awkward? I’m typically a very shy person. & it’s kinda scary going to a new place with unknown people.
The only thing awkward about an aa meeting is how you feel about yourself. AA is amazing, you learn so much about yourself and the illness Of alcoholism. Its changed my life, i’v Been sober over a year now, I was introduced to aa in rehab and at 1st wasn’t interested but it was all I had as nothing else worked to keep me from drinking, give it a go
@MissComplicated I was a nervous wreck! And still do get anxious going but always feel calm afterwards. Everyone is really friendly and makes you feel welcome. I’d recommend getting around a few different meetings, listen to what is being said see if you can relate and go to which ones you like. They say to listen for the similarities not for the differences. I’m finding it is helping. As I’m understanding a lot more about my addiction and how it tricks me. Let me know if you go x
