I have not had a drink for 3 days this month i planned to do the whole month and year but relapsed four of the seven days this month ive been doing hypnosis meditation and looking into going to church i was wondering if anyone knew what ID means for some of the aa meetings. Has anyone got any other ideas for quitting Alcohol i am so much happier and better off sober. Thank you
By far the most common type of AA meeting is called an ID meeting. Members just tell their stories of what they were like, what happened and what life is like for them now.
Hi i to have made the decision to quit drinking it is ruining my life. It is going to be hard but i guess you have to just be strong and try focus on stuff that makes u happy without alcohol maybe take up a hobby.
Thanks Dane
I have come up with a few ideas such as going to the markets tomorrow and exercising today i did some more hypnosis
Have you been to one? Im a bit scared to go
Hi lucy no i havent been. I going to just try and get out more maybe just go for walks things like that. Its early days i have never done anything like this. There is a first for everything i guess.
@Lucy Yes I have and it does me a world of good. It’s scary for anyone that has never been but it’s a great place to learn about yourself and meet people walking the sobriety path with you.
Thanks mel i might go next week as i have to work tomorrow when its on. I’ll let you know how i go do u think hypnosis works
I’ve never used hypnosis but I’d be curious to hear about others experience with it.
I have been doing kickboxing today and tomorrow im going to the markets ive never been before have u tried hypnosis what are your plans in ur free time when u would normally drink
Just coming back from my local aa meeting. Nice thing about them you can be yourself, speak only if you want and you never know who will come. Tonight we had a first timer he spoke to the owner of a golf course he goes to. He left not believing the mix of different types of people came! He left wanting to be back for the next meeting. It’s definitely a learning experience, you can’t judge by just one meeting you go to there all a little different. Stay strong for yourself, it’s a accomplishment waking up the next morning knowing you made it through another day!!
@Lucy
Yes I believe hypnosis and meditation can work along with your positive intentions and your commitment to making this and any changes in your life…
Here is a link to a meditation I have been listening to for the last 3 weeks every night…it is meant to be listened to as you fall asleep…it talks about God…but don’t let that put you off…it is God as you interpret it not someone or some religions idea…it does not talk about addiction but it talks about powerful mental states which are full of positivity and self love…mental states that can empower you to transform your life…i feel it has been one piece in the puzzle that has led me to be 26 days sober…and feeling a sense of ease about sobriety and life in general…which is amazing for me to say…
Also just to say I cannot recommend going to an AA meeting highly enough…this has been another piece in my recovery puzzle…it is scary at first…but you don’t have to share your story until the day you feel you are ready and you want to…yet it is still so powerful to listen to others share…in the meetings you will find fellowship with others who want to support your recovery…others who have similarities to your own story and who are also on a journey of recovery…you will find you are not alone…
I know we can do this recovery thing…as long as we stay committed to our goal…as long as we reach out to others for support and to support them…
Sending you love, healing, peace and determination…J
Going to AA meets is good met people with similar problems one you get there and meet other Alcholics get phone numbers and get new friends so you can lift the phone when you feel low , i went have been going for over 30 years now no relapes give it a try it makes getting sober easier rather than white knuckle soberiety best of luck everyone have a great day
Thank you for your advice on attending the aa meetings i am pencil in my diary right now and hope on the day im not to scared to go I’ll keep you posted thanks again ill continue with hypnosis, meditation and exercise it does help but i feel i can relapse at any moment I just want to be healthy so i can feel happy and be the best person I can be
