Just curious how much do you think you have spent on your addiction including all costs like things you would not have paid for if you were sober over the past 5 years? Very sobering topic but a good motivator I think. Mine is probably around 15k.

It’s definitely half of the sallary or even more. Huge amounts.
I was thinking this, my counter on here goes at ÂŁ4 per day as a guesstimate for 3/4 bottle of wine but I bought other things in the shop including wine gift bags to cover up (!) plus stupid amounts of EBay whilst drunk so I am hoping I will be flush this time next year

My pill habit had me at 40$ a day (average) in 19 days time I’ve saved almost 800 dollars, that is utterly insane… I didn’t make 40 dollars a day when I worked at my shitty job,(Stop and shop part time) now I have a way better job (Amazon full time) and no addiction, funny how that worked out for me… Watching the money saved go up is truly inspiring to stay off the pain killers.

I think that’s a huge motivator to see the money you’re saving but it’s a big realization when you start to look over the past and really added up just think of what we could have done without it.
I guess we can keep in mind that moving forward and do something good with that money instead

Oh my days, some of the clothes that used to arrive and I would open them without a clue and think “what was I thinking”! Last year I ordered a gift for my mum drunk, forgot and then ordered it for a second time. It’s ironic really as the double gift was a garden ornament of a Robin. I believe that robins are a message from a loved one that has passed away. She has one on each side of her front door and every time I look at them, I think “that’s my loved ones telling me to quit the booze”!
