Hi TS, I have something that’s really bothering me. I’m currently in the hospital undergoing alcohol and benzodiazepine withdrawal. I have very severe ADHD. I still have to take Medikenet, although less than before, since I’m currently unemployed. Will I really be clean then? At the NA meeting, I was told that if I’m taking medication for an illness, that’s okay. I would prefer modafinil, but it’s only approved for narcolepsy in Germany. It’s almost as good, though, and doesn’t make you feel so zombie-like, and you have a normal appetite. Plus, it’s an antidepressant. Does anyone have any advice? Is anyone taking modafinil for ADHD? Looking forward to your replies. Have a good 24 hours.

I don’t have adhd so I can’t comment there. On prescription drugs I can say this: that’s between you and your professional health care providers. it’s always a balancing act finding the right psychofarmaca (not sure that’s an English word but in Dutch it’s the term for all medicine that works on our brains for treatment of psychiatric disorders and syndromes) for your person, for your symptoms, for you physiology and psychology. Keep talking to your health care providers how you feel taking the drugs, what it does to you, how it makes you feel. And keep talking to yourself so to speak.
I’m glad your NA group agrees with you taking medicine but NA, like us here, are a group of addicts together. it’s Peer Support. They are no health care professionals. Have a good day friend.

The Benzodiazepines and Alcohol got me Beat down to a awful Person.
If you are taking medication prescribed by a doctor and making sure you are taking them exactly as prescribed then it’s fine. If you start taking more than prescribed or more often then prescribed then it’s abusing them

I take Straterra 18 mg 1x a day. It’s a low low dose but I’m super sensitive to meds. It’s also a non addictive non stimulant. It calms my mind and keeps me focused.
