I started my journey back on 12/12/2024. Im currently having a very rough time. Does it get easier??
Welcome to TS @Adam19711
First of all congrats on your sober time
Life can get lifey. Using will only worsen what’s going on. We learn to deal with living on life’s terms in healthy ways, sober. That’s work. It’s worth putting the work in. Read around, it changes the longer you are sober and the more tools you put in your toolbox for coping with life and living a good sober life.
Keep going
Welcome to the community Adam. Way to go on your sobriety journey … Over a month is fantastic. I know the first leg of my journey was detoxing, then trying to work on changing up habits and routines to rewire my brain and then working on dealing with all the emotions and feelings that I kept buried / numbed for so long. I can tell you that it was a hard start but it 100% gets easier and the best part is that you are healing as you go and will never have to do day 1 again.
This is a wonderful community…do hope you take time to read around and gain insight and motivation from the posts here. A lot of support, love and advice from fellow members who understand the battle of addiction. Hope to see you around
Yes.
It gets easier in the same way swimming gets easier. If you practice daily, with a supportive community who can give you feedback, and you take the feedback and make the changes, it gets easier over time, as you improve.
Do you have a supportive community where you can get feedback and learn?
(Welcome to Talking Sober!
)
Yes it does Adam put in the work and receive the rewards wish you well
Are you still sober?
If you are, well done. That’s the most sacred thing you can have.
Are you in AA or other sober support group? Have a HP?
Not really. My coworkers are great and supportive. Home is a different story. I have drinkers where I stay during the week. So far, I’ve been able to just ignore. But eventually I will have to confront.
I go to Smart Recovery at least once a month.
And yes, still sober.
Sounds like you’re feeling vulnerable; I imagine I would feel the same way in your shoes. Health is about choice - what I do with my body and my time - and every choice that I’ve made which has impacted my health positively has required me to make some internal changes, to my thinking and my habits. It sounds like you know some of the changes you want to make. Keep us posted!
