I have been getting heart palpitations since April. I have been to the hospital twice and had ecgs etc each time im told everything is fine. I believed it was down to my anxiety as i have GAD. Im currently on medication for it. The palpitations sometimes just happen on their own but when i drink an excessive amount the next day they are really bad. had an excessive amount Friday and had palpitations literally all day yesterday. Had 4 drinks yesterday and I have them again today. All the stuff online about strokes etc is really freaking me out. Does anyone else have this problem?

I don’t know if I had actual palpitations, but I had an elevated heart rate and higher blood pressure before I quit drinking.
One night my wife noticed how fast and hard my heart was beating and almost took me to the emergency room.
Since I’ve quit, I haven’t had any issues whatsoever.
When are you quiting?

When my husband drinks his heart races really bad and his breathing gets faster. I think a lot of it has to do with dehydration and alcohol dehydrates you. Being dehydrated means your heart has to work harder to pump.
I had this problem too, for the last couple years. It got to the point that I just accepted it as a side effect of my rock and roll lifestyle, lol. Let me just mention how nice it is NOT to have palpitations anymore, haha. 
It’s more common than anyone including doctors will admit. Have you ever had pulmonary depression? It’s where you feel like you can’t breath and you gasp for breath. Have you ever coughed blood? Did you ever feel like the only way to feel better was to self medicate? That was me for years and I told myself that I could handle it. I couldn’t and now my genes have been permanently modified to crave poison.
There is no cure. Best thing to hope for is improved diet and exercise, lower salt and sugar intakes and eat lots of fiber and drink water non stop. I Pray for healing and God will heal me, maybe not right away bUT eventually. It might not be my plan but if God will it then I will be grateful.

I started having chest pains and palpitations that sent me to the ER as well. After i stopped drinking for awhile the pains stopped too.
