Alcohol myopia

I was listening to a podcast today and while the main topic of conversation wasn’t on alocholism or recovery/addiction specifically, it WAS really interesting, as the conversation led to much discussion around alcohol abuse and it’s consequences, and what alcohol actually does to us/our brains. It was seriously enlightening to listen to! so I knew immediately that I wanted to share it here with the TS community : ) let me know if you decide to listen and what you think! I’m so glad I have the terminology/language now to articulate what actually happens. It’s also strengthened my belief that alcohol is poison … as I keep finding more and more evidence leading me to the this conclusion.

Got some really good understanding behind what happens when I ‘blacked-out’ when drinking now too. Hearing this conversation about Alcohol Myopia really opened my awareness and understanding a lot on drinking behaviour and our cognizance. Last time I drank, I blacked out and it was scary as shit waking up the next day, wondering wtf had happened. Sadly, I’d blacked out when drinking many times.

I just finished reading his book! I absolutely loved it. This section was really eye opening…well…the whole book was. I wholeheartedly recommend it to every person reading this.

I can’t wait to read his book! The conversation about it was SO interesting!

Nice, he’s pretty brilliant, love that dude. If you have the ability to Audible it, it’s actually an “enhanced audiobook”. It’s like…a new thing I think. Wherever possible he uses recorded audio of the actual interactions that took place and has some background music going in places so it actually sounds like a well produced podcast, and it is Gladwell himself reading it. While I love hard copy reads, this is one of those instances where listening to it actually gives you more than you thought it would. Happy reading/listening!
