Almost a week!

Almost a week of not drinking! Coming up on the weekend though which is gonna be hard. This is when I tell myself you did great this week now you can have a drink but than I just can’t control it and drink way to much! I am hoping this is gonna be a different weekend! It’s really nice to have a place where I can go talk and be around people that understand what it’s like to battle an addiction!

There’s so many things to like and I never seem to have enough likes to give out. Congrats! :muscle: :tada: :balloon:

My first weekend off, i lived here…completely emersed myself in each thread. You can do this, just ignore that little voice that says you can have just 1.

You only have to defeat that first drink. That is the key to this battle. Saying “no” to the first one.

Wherever you are in this picture, looks like someplace worth spending some more time. Maybe head back there this weekend?

Yeah, I’m out of likes as well, otherwise your post would be at the top of my list to like!

Not even 1. Never again. Give it up completely and forever. It’s not a part of you anymore. Dont even regret it. Alcohol tried to destroy you, tried to break you and ruin your life. You dont have time for a sucky relationship like that. You’re too good for it. Move on to bigger and better things.

I do have a question though. What do you guys think about this. So I am trying to quit drinking but instead I am just smoking a lot more weed. Now am really conflicted on this because I am almost switching the amount of alcohol I use to drink with a lot more weed than I use to smoke.

Hey hun,
Day 21 sober from booze here and I’m very much like yourself. I would last a week then by the weekend one innocent drink I thought turned into waaaaay too many. I drank in excess. This is the longest I’ve gone without booze in a long while.

I don’t smoke pot like I use to back in the day as it gives me panic attacks now but I do vape high cbd strains on rare occasion. Weed in my personal opinion is a hell of a lot better then alcohol health wise but that being said I once was addicted to pot. It can be addicting which I’m sure you know so just be cautious of that.

Switching one for the other could prove problematic. There’s a saying “once an addict always an addict”. However if you find it helps you then who are we to argue. You know your own body best.

Clean and sober means exactly that…clean and sober. Whether you tackle them one at a time, or together, you want to be free from any kind of mind-altering substance or intoxicant. Anything less is just playing at sobriety, IMHO.

Agreed. Replacing one drug with another is two edges of the same coin. Sobriety for me is about having control over my faculties. I want to be aware. I want to have freedom to make choices without being shackled by something that alters my reality.
