Today is my 32nd birthday. It’s been a great day and I’ve been sober the entire day. Right now I’m at a baseball game with my wife and I don’t even want to drink, despite many people around me drinking. I’m only 5 days sober as of today but seeing my wife happy and not worried and being able to enjoy all the amazing things she’s done for me while being present really means a lot to me. This is enough motivation to stay sober.

Honestly being sober today made me realize how great of a gift sobriety is. I was clearheaded and able to enjoy my day without a lot of the setbacks of alcoholism and I try had the most amazing and special day. I’m legit in awe of how wonderful life can be when you’re sober. My family even toasted with champagne and I declined respectfully and I don’t feel bad about it.

I totally love all of this for you and definitely nothing to feel bad about (referring to declining alcohol). Funny how society has trained us to think that we have a reason to apologize for NOT drinking.

Isn’t it great to remember it all? What a great gift for yourself. Funny thing, I used to purposely not drink on my birthday for that exact reason. To enjoy the one day a year that’s your own

You can say that again! It’s so shocking to me because i normally would celebrate by being plastered and completely missing everything else but today I was able to be present and enjoy EVERYTHING with gratitude.
