@Robin Thanks man, I’ll take that as a compliment. It’s very true that addiction does not discriminate… For people like me, there is a plethora of contributing factors; mental/mood disorders, family history of addiction, past abuse, genetics… They all played a role for me. Not to mention that I’ve always had a strange attraction to the dark side of life. It appealed to me.
However, it’s important to realize that, even though there are always contributing factors, you still have the free will and the power to turn away from that lifestyle. Sometimes i use my disorders as a crutch, thereby shifting the weight of responsibility from my shoulders. I try to be conscious of that and avoid it whenever possible.
