St Patty’s day ain’t over yet, let’s get some more Celtic influence in here🤘
Well, this train carries saints and sinners
This train carries losers and winners
This train carries whores and gamblers
This train carries lost souls
I said, this train, dreams will not be thwarted
This train, faith will be rewarded
This train, hear the steel wheels singin’
This train, bells of freedom ringin’
The late great Dio, been about 11 years since he passed away, amazing impact he had on the metal scene. Here’s where I think him and Ritchie Blackmore were at their best
‘Rising’ is an amazing album, it was quite a lineup they had on that one! I didn’t get to see Rainbow until years later for ‘Straight Between the Eyes’ but at least they did a lot of Deep Purple in their setlist then. Like you said, Dio’s impact on metal was huge! Rainbow, reinvigorating Sabbath, his solo work in the '80s, back to Sabbath in the '90s, he was a defining voice for several decades. RIP, Dio.
I’ve been listening to Fear Innoculum album by TOOL pretty much on repeat the last few days. Highly recommended.
Massive shouts to the wardruna fans in the hall. I saw them in London a few years ago when gaahl was still with them. Proper amazing stuff.
That would be me, I’m a musician and I listen to almost anything you could think of, I’ve been a metalhead since I was 10 years old so I’ve completely exhausted that part of my musical taste and started flexing other genres more for my diversity. Tool has been one of my biggest inspirations as a musician specifically towards my drumming and Fear Inoculum is an amazing album irregardless of what any hardcore Tool fan wants to say. Pneuma and Descending are both my favorites from that one.
If you enjoy Wardruna, there are bands like Faun, Heilung, Skáld in that traditional aspect for your kick also cool that you were able to see Gaahl, I’ve been listening to Gorgoroth since I was a teenager and the black metal scene has been one of the biggest influences on me in life
100% Rainbow I feel like it was Ritchie at his best as well, I’m so happy he played in Deep Purple and wrote so many songs for that band over the years with Jon Lord, Ritchie Blackmore would have to be hands down my favorite 60s early 70s rock/metal guitarist, so much character with his neo classical playing. Here is one for the road
I saw gorgoroth in Manchester in 2008 when I was a student they were absolutely evil.
Love Aerosmith, such a throwback for me, Sweet Emotion at the intro to Dazed And Confused was like the party lifestyle once upon a time
Awesome song!! “My pain is self-chosen…The river of deceit pulls down”
