DEVO - Turn Around: B-Sides & More (1978-1984), 2019.

My first DEVO album, bought on a whim when it came out. I had tried to get into them years prior but they just didn’t click with me. When I got this, the opening track (below) and Working in the Coal Mine sunk their hooks into me, and in rapid pace, DEVO grew to become one of my top-3 favorite bands.

Many of the tracks on this compilation are just reworkings of songs which appear on their studio albums, so I’ll go with one that is only available on this (other than being a b-side on a single). Like many of their early works, it was produced by the great Brian Eno. I generally look for live performances to share here, but couldn’t find a satisfactory one as they don’t do this one often.
I always say it when discussing DEVO – if you only know “Whip it”, do yourself a favor and check 'em out.
