February Red #8
Belle and Sebastian - If You’re Feeling Sinister, 1996.
Been a fan of this album and this band for years. Kind of fell off my radar, but their first several albums were great.
They are also one of my favorite bands to cover, and I nearly posted my own cover of “Fox in the Snow”, but this is meant to celebrate the original artist and I’m also far too bashful to share such a thing.
Gary Brooker, the lead singer of this beautiful song, died today.
RIp Gary. Thank you for the beauty of your voice.
What a tune!
I’ve missed being on this thread! Lots to catch up on. Here’s a gem recommended to me from my dad/Papi while he was visiting and we were exchanging new to us musics.
February Red #9
The B-52’s - Wild Planet, 1980.
I will dare to say that this is one of my all-time favorite albums. A band that is overlooked far too often. Not a weak track on it. I also love the album cover shot. These songs were all live staples by the time the actual album came out, they were penned at the same time as the tracks from the first album. The band was wise enough to hold onto them so that they could have an equally strong sophomore album.
This wraps up Red February, thanks again for humoring me!
I’m deciding between two colors for March and will select the albums in the next few days.
I enjoy the picks. While I’ve heard of most of the bands I like the songs you choose because I normally haven’t heard them. Also the band facts always on point! Thanks for sharing and I look forward to March
Thanks!
I enjoy doing it, and generally make an effort to avoid singles/well-known songs since so many other songs are so wonderful - thanks for acknowledging that!
Made it through another week hope all is well.
