I finally got a copy of that last summer, absolute classic. Great remastering on this pressing and looks cool, too. Gonna have to give it a spin today, now - thanks for the inspiration! Have a good weekend buddy

As far as live music goes, absolutely top of my list is to see/hear some sacred harp singing in a church. I think it would be incredible.

This is my dad and uncles band called Leaf. My dad was on drums age 16 , uncle on guitar and vocals age 25 , Bryan on bass 30? mostly played in Baltimore Maryland in the late 80s. I’m not sure how this song ended up on this mixtape, but my dad played a part I just can’t remember. My dad Has all of the remaining leaf songs, records, and all of the rights, my uncle passed from drinking think in 2004 … My dad taught me how to play drums, my uncle taught me how to play guitar … legends never die

Yeah my uncle listen to a lot of blues and funk music. He was a lot older than my dad so just pretty much naturally my dad was listening to what my uncle was. I think also growing up in the city at that time has a lot to do it. I just really can’t believe that my dad was playing at that level at 16 Especially with the consistent tempo and kick drum.It’s so crazy. I know my dad listen to a lot of chili peppers and still does

Back in the late 80s a band that was big in the DC area besides Fugazi was bad brains who were very funk/reggae influenced
