Anxiety at 9pm

I’m getting so anxious I’m spamming my phone and I don’t know how to calm down!! What helps you get things off your mind ?!

For me, it helps to move- running, walking, yoga, working out in some way. That’s the fastest way I’ve found to decompress. I also sit with more artistic hobbies, like embroidery or playing my piano. Reaching out to a close friend can also be a nice distraction that helps me cope when things feel intolerable. I hope you find your way through tonight. Tomorrow is a new day.

Totally agree. I bought a weighted hula hoop awhile ago that I keep under my bed, as silly as that is. If I’m feeling jittery after dark, I’ll use that for a few minutes with some music on to burn some energy in a fun way. I also recommend having some art supplies on hand foran easy, relaxing activity at night…I’ve found that the more convenient they are to just grab & start using when you’re feeling off, the more likely I am to get up & use them without it feeling too overwhelming.

Hang in there OP! Remember that the feeling will always pass. Wishing you well

If it’s that late and I don’t have the option to go to a meeting I will clean my apartment, go for a bike ride, listen to some calming music, call somebody in my net work, basically any positive activity to get myself from over thinking. Even at 13 months sober anxiety is still a part of my life but nowhere near as bad as it was in the beginning. I’m learning to deal with my anxiety and not run from it. Sometimes for myself I am learning that my anxiety is trying to tell me something. I just have to listen

First thing is no caffeine 12 hours before bed.

Next is regular exercise.

No electronics an hour before bed. Use that hour to read.

Meditation 5 minutes, 60 minutes whatever works.

When all else fails, breathing exercises, slow exhaling.
