Anxiety my trigger

As I set at work my anxiety growing, all I can think of is going home to drink and numb this out.

Anxiety is real. It’s part of a system of emotions. Like our natural body systems, balance is needed, and some need to be strengthened. There is a path through the anxiety.

Drinking won’t help, you already know that, but what will help is to keep connecting, keep reaching out. Maybe visit a meeting after work (either in person or online; to find online ones search “AA online meeting” or “SMART Recovery online meeting”, or whichever type of meeting you want to attend, and you’ll find links). Hang out here on Talking Sober. Don’t be alone.

There is no mandatory reason to drink, no matter how you feel. This is hard to understand in the early days but it is important. There is never a time, there is never a feeling where you have to drink, no matter what.

Happy to hear it! Today was a tough one for me too. It’s always the end of the day that gets my brain going for whatever reason. When I saw your post I was like wow are we the same person lol? :sweat_smile:
