I love reading and it helps me when depression hits, to recharge, to calm down my busy mind and to stay sober.
Right now, I re-read „Our souls at night“ by Kent Haruf. One of my all time favourites.
And I read R. F. Kuang‘s „Yellowface“. Very funny!

Hello fellow book lovers. I have definitely not been an avid reader this week. What with one thing or another happening at home and spending far too much time on here, silly amounts really, I haven’t picked a book up or listened to an audiobook all week.
Back to work tomorrow and will be continuing with ‘inner engineering’ this week as my audiobook. So far so good I do like Sadhgurus dry sense of humour.

I’ve just finished Fairy Tale by Stephen King on audible. It was over 24 hours long, but worth every listening session. I loved it.
I have The Stand to listen to next and that’s 47 Hours long!! I need to maybe start in the new year and work myself up to the listening commitment.
I’ve been listening to some very early HP Lovecraft and that’s been quite remarkable for such early work.
In book form I’m reading something by Lisa Jewel and that’s really good and entertaining. I just can’t remember the title.

@Tragicfarinelli loved _Fairytale_ and _The Stand_. I finished _King Sorrow_ a few weeks ago, which is a great long read/listen. It’s well worth a look. It’s one of those books you’re sorry to finish. I can listen to Stephen King’s books over and over. I’ve read _Under the Dome_ multiple times, the same as _11/22/63_. And I also have a wild mouse in my allotment shed called Mr. Jinx, really I do! 😳😅

Stephen King is definitely top five for me. He’s remarkably astute and so rich with his words. The nostalgia, the heart, the pathos… He achieves marvelous deep textured stories that manage to blend genres easily and vacillate between social commentary and traditional allegory. I love him. ❤

My very favorite book!!! That will be a long listen for sure…immersion!
I am also quite partial to Salems Lot and Carrie. Well, his other early works as well…so much character and place development and always, the basic pull of good vs evil.

I’ve still got a few to listen to. I think I was sidetracked by King Sorrow. (While I’m writing this, I’ve just started watching season 1, episode 1 of Mr. Mercedes—again!) And now, thanks to you wonderful people, I will be listening to The Stand again. What a perfect way to spend the run-up to Christmas: Mr. Mercedes (which has a fantastic soundtrack) and The Stand. 😀

Yes it will be 4hrs a day. I dont know which will finish first…🤔.im thinking it will be the Stand as I can work while listening but couldnt binge watch Mr Mercedes and sit on my arse doing nothing. I’ll check with Michelle. 😄

Not all the stories resonated, but most I liked very much. An interesting concept for sure, having other writers add to the world of The Stand and after.
