“It’s Okay that You’re Not Okay” by Megan Devine. Assigned reading from my therapist concerning grief and how to tend to our pain instead of trying to eliminate the pain. Not sure how I feel about it yet.
I am really enjoying it!
A book I read as teenager. A gentle story of bard singing old tales, tribes of England living among a disolving roman empire, dreamed life on Atlantis and love. The writting is both melancholic and joyfull, and this time of year is perfect for fantasy.
Yay, Shuggie! What a beautiful book.
Recommend some non fiction books I read recently that have been helping me understand this strange country (the US, where I’ve lived for 25 years but still have so much to learn):
Evicted. Horrifying account of eviction among low income renters in the us, and how the systematic housing disparities increase inequality and child poverty.
Charged. On prosecutors role in mass incarceration.
The warmth of other suns, on Black migration from the Jim Crow south. Starting Caste now.
A promised land. Its so good, so well written, and constantly upsetting and illuminating.
I see you picked that one up too. How do you like it so far?
Oh I see you answered that already. My bad

It’s great, and still relevant after so long. I think that is the test of great books!
That is definitely a good metric to use
Is the book about introverts any good?
Yes ma’am. Very good! I’m 100% an introverted soul. It’s been very insightful.
