@TrustyBird Ha! I’m trying to get my girlfriend on board. We don’t live together, but she always complains about A, not having enough space (granted her bedroom is smaller) and B, feeling like she’s always cleaning. I’ve never been inside her bedroom, but I’m almost certain she can gain 25% space if she let go ofthe things that aren’t serving her.
That’s good! I think I purchased something from a thrift store (Salvation Army) for the first time as an adult last year, which is ironic because I donate clothing to them quite a few times throughout the year. I love it! I find myself constantly evolving in this journey and can’t remember the last time I bought something completely miscellaneous.
It took me longer to come around to the idea than it did my husband. He has always been minimal. Moving into a smaller place got the ball rolling and now I can’t stop getting rid of things. It’s glorious, but it takes a bit to warm to and isn’t for everyone.
I buy 95% of my clothing from thrift stores. They are more unique pieces and I have tremendous guilt about just how much stuff is out there with more being made every day. Shopping secondhand seems responsible and a way to alleviate my environmental guilt.
