Barefoot's Sober Updates! 1/15/26 - 4 months!

Today I celebrate 2 weeks without alcohol !!!

Small but noticeable changes (positive and negative) include being able to fall asleep faster and stay asleep BUT having the craziest dreams- better than the night terrors last week! My skin is clearing up a bit but due to the stress and big change of quitting alcohol, my period is 10 days late (no, I’m not pregnant). No hangovers! Heck yeah! With being able to sleep better I’m able to wake up a lot earlier again (instead of the 2pm hangovers)! I feel less stressed out and my anxiety is much lower than when I was drinking! I also continue to lose weight/inches compared to packing on the pounds when I’d be drinking and snacking until 3am!

Another week down! I’m so proud of myself!:blush: I hope you’re all having a wonderful day!!!

WHOOHOO!! Another week down and seeing some of the benefits. The body goes through a lot of changes and recovery so our hormones take time to regulate in recovery too. Keep working your journey! Way to go with 2 weeks… :tada: :tada: :muscle:

nice work. are you enjoying life more sober than you were when you were drinking?

you’re making some headway; hope you have a support system. have you considered counseling, recovery support, or therapy?

Oh I’m enjoying life so much more! It’s a lot less wild in the evenings but I’ve gotten more used to it  Getting sleepy earlier has been nice compared to staying up crazy late!

I’m actually in therapy as of a month ago :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: I have a lot more issues than just alcohol haha, yay trauma! I definitely believe that the therapy has helped me work towards sobriety!

Great job! Lots of positive changes there (hopefully the negative ones will even out soon):purple_heart:

I’m 18 days sober and reading about the physical experiences you are having make me feel so much better bc I’m in the same boat! Sleeping more, deep sleep which isn’t normal for me, and I’m almost a week late and was getting super nervous about it lol congrats to you on your journey!!! I’m so looking forward to hitting my 20day mark!! We can do this :tada::tada::tada:

Great work. Dreams have been REALLY WEIRD for me too - 20 days today for me and the dreams have been vivid and all over the place. Keep going!

I’m not sure if you can ever truly “heal” from trauma, but talking about it with an unbiased party has definitely helped me! Venting, crying, letting it all out. I also started taking magnesium glycinate which has helped my anxiety TREMENDOUSLY.

I take mine right after dinner but I’m not sure if it would make a difference when :woman_shrugging: When I first looked into it I saw that a lot of people take it an hour or so before bed to aide in sleep. Also! Ashwagandha! Yes! My husband and I have been taking that even longer than I tried to get sober. I also started taking fish oil recently.
