I am resetting my binge eating counter today. I slipped big time yesterday and binged. I don’t feel devastated (only bloated ). I had 6 months binge free. Such a shame. But as long as it doesn’t set me back, I am ok with resetting and starting over

What happened, girl? Do you see a pattern that led to the binge?

I am sorry you had to reset. But I am grateful that you don’t beat yourself up about it.
Your 6 months are not lost :people_hugging::purple_heart:

Very pretty!
I also have continued to not eat in a great way. Yesterday was almost a binge, but not quite, and I feel like I am scrolling more and generally feeling bad - unhappy, lazy, guilty. Time to put big girl pants on and start moving and doing the things that I know make feel better.

:warning:Trigger warning :warning:
Mentioning trigger food and amounts below.

Not sure, @DanielaJ
I bought crisps which we normally don’t have at home. Two packs of two different types. And that was perhaps a trigger. I would never guess it, because I didn’t have crisps for probably 2 years as I don’t normally eat them :rofl::rofl: So it’s almost silly that I relapsed on them. Then I had like 4 slices of bread and an ice cream on the top.. :woman_facepalming:t3::woman_shrugging:t3:

Thank you for asking and caring

That does sound like a trigger food! Iā€˜m sorry it happened but Iā€˜m grateful you identified the possible trigger.
Crisps can be evil :smiling_face_with_horns::upside_down_face: It’s a trigger food for many people.

Take good care of yourself and your belly. Hope you feel better already.

I don’t think that I will engage with crisps again :joy:

Thank you very much, dear @DanielaJ :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::hugs: Yes, I feel much better already. I was just quite bloated in the morning and not exactly happy. But as the day went, everything eased up.
I just finished my work and will make myself some nice dinner and then I am looking forward to just relaxing as I have no responsibilities or plans for tonight. It’s nice to have some time for myself. And it’s a bank holiday weekend ahead in the UK. So I am looking forward to 3 days of ā€˜freedom’

Hope you and everyone else will have a lovely weekend too!

On another thread there was mention about putting a trigger warning for mention of GLPs. The moderators think while not necessary for the rest of the forum, it would be a helpful addition to the title of this thread, so I am going to go ahead and do it. I think we all do it anyway, but just as a heads up for new posters on this thread. I think food portions should also have a TW (like Jana so helpfully did).

Great point! I am never too sure if the TW really helps. People in active addiction may still read what’s below. So maybe the best is to try and avoid it… That’s what I will probably aim for from now on..

When thinking about it, there’s no point in listing each food and portion I ate when I can be generic and still get across the same message.

Day 83 Binge free
Day 17 free from compulsive eating behaviors

Potential TW about trigger food
So yesterday was a hard day for me physically and mentally. I was also sooo tired which is a state that triggers me to want to cope with food. I did okay with my eating throughout the day but then for some stupid reason, i bought icecream last night for a snack. I did start eating it but then stopped shortly afterwards. It was WAY too sweet!!! I had this realization that I didnt even want it! How on earth did i use to finish the entire pint in 1 sitting?! I felt sick after eating maybe a 1/5 of it. So i put it back in the freezer.

Even though, i did eat a trigger food, i didnt engage in binge eating, which I am so proud of. It was a risky decision tho if im to be honest. My judgement yesterday wasnt on point. But thankfully all timers are still intact.

Hope everyone is doing well today!

Great break through, @Butterflymoonwoman :clap:t3: I am pleased for you!
I also sometimes think and reflect about how much ā€œrubbishā€ I used to eat in one sitting and I can’t believe how I actually managed to do it, because now it looks enormous and unimaginable to me. Yet, I was there eating the ā€œgarbageā€ every night!!! Crazy!
It’s good to look back and see what are our minds and bodies able to achieve when left under fueled.

Out of curiosity, how are you feeling now? I remember you used to feel powerless about managing food? Do you still feel the same way, or do you feel like you do have a control and that it’s up to you what, when and how much you are going to eat?

105 days binge free is my longest streak since I started to treat binge eating as addiction. I am grateful for all the tools that help me to keep it this way ODAAT.

My most important tools are:

  • Identifying the voice in my head that tells me to keep on eating as my addicted mind and push it away real hard.
  • Medication that helps with my depression, anxiety and hormonal balance.
  • Avoiding my trigger foods.
  • Eating enough nutritious foods.
  • Drinking enough water and tea.
  • Connecting with peers.
  • Breathing techniques.
  • Getting creative.
  • Sleep.
  • All of you as my support :purple_heart:

I am still on my vacation. Tomorrow is the last day. I am looking forward to coming home and have my own kitchen stuff to prepare fresh food.

I loved it here and I will definetly come back to Croatia. I didnā€˜t make it to Kvarner Bay and I really want to go there some time.

Today itā€˜s a relaxed day in our garden and later we will visit a goat farm.

Have a peaceful day, everyone :purple_heart:

Day 321 cigarette free
Day 107 binge free
Day 1 sugar free

A new attempt to quit sugar again. As @Butterflymoonwoman said on the check-in daily thread: We need to do the work on a daily basis and not stop when we feel better. I am willing to do so, to quit sugar ODAAT.

I am back home from my vacation and grateful for my kitchen supplies. Tomorrow Iā€˜ll prepare one of my favourite dishes: beets, feta cheese and walnuts.

Have a peaceful day, everyone :purple_heart:

Day 89 binge free
Day 1 free from compulsive eating behaviors

I had 23 days or so free from compulsive eating behaviours, when my emotions took hold and I ended up eating to cope :frowning: I was in the hospital admitted with my son who wasnt well. Stress and anxiety and boredom took hold. I didnt do a single thing to help myself which is what I find so disappointing. I have learned that I MUST do the work DAILY (even some basic stuff) in order to stay on the right path. I have learned from this experience for sure. I am back on track today with my meetings, prayer, readings, checking in on TS, and chatting with my sponsor. Thankfully I did not binge. But my food choices were verrrry poor. And i definitely ate my emotions at time.

I will be more prepared foe Oct 6th when my son goes into the hospital for his procedure (scope and decannulation). We will be admitted for at least a day afterwards. So im going to prepare for this.

Anyway, im glad to be back on this thread

Hi Jana!! I realized that I never responded to your post. Things have been sooo hectic :frowning:

I suppose my answer now, is going to be different from days ago when i hadnt ā€œslippedā€. But i still feel like, for the most part, that i dont feel as powerless over food as I once did. I did slip at the hospital (used food to soothe), but I also realized that it didnt take away the stress or upset emotions that I was feeling then. It didnt solve anything and in fact made it worse.

I am still on a GLP1 also, which does help me limit how much I eat. But i feel like overall that the GLP1 is showing me that I really dont need much food (compared to what I was eating before), to survive. Im eating a ā€œnormalā€ amount now and feel soo much better overall. I can also have snacks and not eat the entire bag or container. I think bcuz i just find that i dont want to. Its not an obsession like it once was.

Binging isnt much of an issue anymore thankfully (grateful to be at 3 months tmrw!!). But using food to cope with my emotions is still a struggle. This is where the OA program helps me. But bcuz i hadnt stayed connected recently, it felt like I forgot everythinf that I had learned. And i slipped. It wasnt a bad slip but still one none-the-less. Hoping to learn how to cope better under stressful times.

How are YOU doing girl?

Hello @Butterflymoonwoman
I am glad that you don’t feel powerless anymore. If we feel powerless, then we are giving all the strength to the addiction and are putting ourselves at worse position when it comes to healing and overcoming it. We are telling ourselves that there’s not much we can because food has got all the power over us. However, I know what you meant when you felt that way, because I was there, too. With food and with alcohol. It does feel that way like if we’re trapped and after so many unsuccessful trials to overcome it, we feel like the substance is stronger than our will.

I am very well, but not doing well when it comes to eating. I didn’t binge for a few lasts days (since the last slip) but I am unsatisfied with the way I am eating; how much, when and mainly what. I can see it as a road to disaster and I currently feel the powerlessness of it  But I know that it’s only up to me to change it and that nobody is forcing the food to my body - each time it’s my choice and my doing - my responsibility.
I figured out that the weakness comes in the afternoon, usually after my work. I finish my work and now what? It’s not like I have nothing to do, there are always plenty of options, but I feel tired and anything I could do feels like responsibility. I don’t want to clean the house, do the washing, prepare my stuff for the following day or even go for a walk, do yoga, journal…all I feel like doing is sitting on the sofa and eating. That feels like the absolute reward after a full working day. I don’t know if it’s a habit I built and so I must force myself to do something else to break it, or desire to top up the energy levels, or both, or something totally different… But I know that the way I feel after work is what brings me to food.
Thinking about it now, maybe all I need to do is to sit down and do nothing and feel my feelings. I have never tried that :woman_shrugging:t3:

Blah blah, thank you very much for asking about me
Have a lovely weekend and take care about yourself :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::heart::heart::heart:

I wondered all morning why I have such a headache today. I just now remembered that it’s a sign of sugar withdrawal.

Day 2 without sugar, it will get better.

Have a peaceful day, everyone :purple_heart:

3 months binge free
1 day free from compulsive eating behaviors

I am feeling proud of those 3 months being binge free! Im grateful that i dont go over board anymore when i eat. I dont feel that sense of powerlessness like I once did. I just need to work on that emotional eating aspect of it all. Im learning to lean on my HP 1st during stressful/emotional times as opposed to food. Retraining my brain to do that, will take time. But i have to try other ways to cope.

One day at a time friends :people_hugging:
