I love your info with pics. Im learning so much. Thanks!
I’ve spotted less than ten sparrowhawks in my entire life. They are now quite rare unfortunately.
Today I was very randomly walking a section of the capitol ring in Kenton / Harrow on the Hill borders in a woodland next to a golf course. Birds were going CRAZY and I thought I heard a stonechats call (which would have been a beautiful spot in London), so I stopped and scanned the commotion in the trees…

I assume it’s a juvie or a young adult.
I’m glad you’re enjoying and learning! That is my goal this time around when it comes to photography! Years ago I was taking pictures of animals but never spent the time to learn about what I was documenting. This time, I’m trying to learn a few facts about each of the creatures I photograph, which I’m happy to share ![]()

A beautiful Manderin duck that I didnt even see while taking the photo at Bolton abbey North Yorkshire it was only once I zoomed in I relised I caught it.
Also saw 2 seaguls mobbing a redkite the same day but of course I missed that shot too.
One of my favourite spectacles to watch is the courtship ritual of the crested grebes. it onvolves a lot more than these quick snapshots I took during a bike ride. We’re lucky to have quite a lot of them. Like here in the Amstel river.
Canada Geese

- Highly adaptable, living near lakes, ponds, marshes, and even urban parks
- Diet consists of primarily grasses, sedges, grains, and berries; they “tip up” in water to eat aquatic plants
- Form strong pair bonds, often for life, and travel in flocks (called gaggles)
Hi, I am a school teacher, and I built this four story Bird House to put in the courtyard. I put a door on each one so after the babies have flown away, the kids can open to see.
Thats awesome!
This is bob.
Bob is a stowaway that we found this morning. He is hanging out watching us offload our haul. We fed him. He looks tired. He will take off when he is ready
