So I am not sure if any of you are into yoga but I have been using this awesome yoga DVD that definitely isn’t your mom’s yoga class. It is centered on understanding darkness before appreciating the light, and is geared towards addicts. If any of you like heavier music, it also has a really nice, relaxing yet dark soundtrack. I thought I might share it with you all as it has helped me enormously, especially since I am not religious and a lot of recovery stuff is based on that and this remains unaffiliated: http://blackyoga.storenvy.com/products/13648659-dvd-black-yo-ga-asanas-ritual-vol-1
This might be up my alley thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing. I have only recently discovered yoga and will definitely give this a try.
Yo! This is so awesome! I’m more of a martial arts type girl but this definitely would tap into some different energies. I’m totally going to give it a try. Thank you for posting!
THIS IS AMAZING! I listen to om and low melodic metal to do yoga. No one gets it. So glad someone else feels the same about searching the darkness to enter the light
@MissQuinn okay I usually am too. Kickboxing boxing and bjj and mma. But yoga is such a good way to work on the other half of the mind I have found. And I got sore from it in places that never got me sore from mma
@Nughiem big metalhead here. And I really struggle with things that focus on being bright and radiant and positive when that is just not what I relate to at the moment. Maybe one day I will want to skip through a field of daisies and praise a higher power but not right now.
Heard that! @Asprinkle Do you like folk metal? Finntroll is really great for when you want “happier” metal. Lol. I find more positive energy from listening to music that makes me feel like I’m riding into battle than skipping through daisies. Just not my cup of tea.
This is pretty cool. Big into heavy metal/death metal and this seems like it’s very different lol I’m gonna check it out.
@Asprinkle I love this idea! Thanks for sharing
@MissQuinn actually yes I have. And Do. We should swap music. If you like melodic death metal also, Insomnium is amazing. They are on the rise in popularity and are one of the more positive metal bands out there if you look at their lyrics. Here is a link to one of my favorite songs from them: https://youtu.be/vBZ5SLJmfdw
@Steve92 what bands? Might be able to swap music. I Really oughtta start a metal music thread.
@Asprinkle here’s a small list of what I’ve been listening to lately.
-lamb of God
-parkway drive
- slayer
- cattle decapitation
- whitechapel
-killswitch engage (just saw them) - volbeat (saw them with killswitch)
- after the burial
- august burns red
- upon a burning body
- ghost
@Asprinkle Yes we should! Metal thread! I’ve been posting a few videos with lyrics in the Motivation section. Posted some Hatebreed the other day and some Lacuna Coil today. Music really helps work through all of this drama that recovery brings. Helps me feel like I can handle anything.
Great list! My tattoo artist introduced me to Ghost 2 years ago. So good.
@MissQuinn saw them last summer and they put on such a good show! Cirice is one of my favorite songs. If u ever get the chance to see them live I highly recommend it
@Steve92 @MissQuinn I listen to a lot of doom, sludge, stoner, melodic death metal, atmospheric black metal, grindcore, crustcore and hardcore. And thrash of course. A lot of classics, a little mainstream, but mostly underground. Seattle has a great metal scene. So if you ever want suggestions that are off the beaten path, hit me up. It’s what gets me through the day.
Do you listen to Gojira? They are pretty incredible. They opened for slayer a few years ago and I just saw them on their headlining tour in October. Also cattle decapitation is great.
This song is pretty stellar for a motivation recharge if y’all are into orchestral metal.
Yes iv listened to them. I can never get stranded out of my head if I put them in haha cattle decap is awesome I saw them at summer slaughter tour 2 years back and they killed it.
