I’m getting my ass kicked by insomnia. Where’s the coffee at in this joint?

So I woke up sober (thank you God), went to work and had a productive day, met some nice customers (who come to find out are in sobriety as well), ate a delicious pb&j sandwich for lunch, got some sunshine, went to a meeting, had dinner with my husband, and now I’m snuggling with my fur baby and I’m still sober (thank you God)…I say it was a successful day.

Thanks!

To answer your question, sobriety has become routine now which is a big step. I’m at the stage of feeling natural when declining alcohol and treats on nights out and a lot of the new fam round here seem to be worrying about that. In short, yeah, it will get easier. Don’t take your foot off the pedal though and never lose sight of what you’re driving away from. If you stick to it, you won’t need to ponder. You’ll feel the benefit right through to your gut.

More generally I’ve been reading a lot more lately which is staggering considering I read at least two hours a day most days. If we haven’t got one already, I’d love to see a TS Book Club. Great to get some recommendations. Not necessarily recovery books either but general fiction.

Dope. I’ll keep my eyes peeled and jump on it next month. Thanks for the shout.

I had an emotional day- thank you all for letting me vent- to do so in such a “give me attention” way, is not something I do often, but I’m glad I did.
Although it was hard- I canceled tonight. I’ll go tomorrow but I can’t do two nights in a row…
thank you guys for your perspective- I headed your wise council

Yes melm I’d say that’s a good day for sure. Glad you don’t take it for granted

Maybe it’s the impending full moon making me all emo

It’s good to hear someone being thankful. After taking so many things for granted and drinking again quite a few times I’ve finally found that thanks you’re talking about @melm

Hey everyone! Just ordered the book for the month. Today was productive in some ways, so I should focus on the good stuff more. Happy to have you all to hang out with tonight!

I’m grabbing my book, a piece of carrot cake, and firing up my desktop! Let the coffee talk begin!

Yumm, carrot cake sounds good! I’m going to get ice cream for the kiddos, get them into bed and check TS from my bed with my kitties.

Went to work and noticed I was way more productive and had more energy. I even offered to stay late which is not like me since I have the furthest drive compared to my coworkers. Came home late, ate, showered now trying to unwind. Grateful to be sober another day!

Okay, now that I’m coming out of a serious fog, I wanna get to know you guys better. I’ve been watching your stories as if half asleep. Some of my original posts I don’t even really recall writing… truth.

Let’s see. I lived in San Francisco and it was in my early to mid-30’s when I finally started to make fun friends that liked to go out to restaurants and have cocktails and wine with great food. That was the beginning of my downfall… Then I bought a house when I was 37 outside of SF and was stressed - never had enough money with a house! Solution, more wine… Still had the same friends who now went out more frequently for drinking and meals… New Years celebrations were at one of our friend’s house every year and he served multi-course meals with a different wine to go with each course. It was fun to get to do all of this, but when I moved to Southern CA the drinking was more and more on my own at home… Now I am essentially 3 months sober but want to be honest in my chip-taking so it is 27 days. I’ve gotten a lot out of aa and the support there, and it has strengthened a feeling that a higher power is working for me (I already went to church and grew up going to church as well). I’ll let you tag who’s next @Naturehippy.

San Fransisco! I heard that’s more expensive than Hawaii (home of your’s truly)
3 months! Sheesh! I can’t even imagine!

I tag @Melrm because I was so foggy coming into this and you’ve been such a support. Although I don’t remember everything you’ve said, I remember how it made me feel and I was deeply moved each time. hug

This conversation was really fun to read. My name is Rachel, 26, living in Scottsdale, Arizona. I’ve been sober 309 days. Just quit cigarettes about 8 days ago.

I knew it and was going to ask you! But I think you just answered my question. Your dog’s names are Oliver and Java, aren’t they @Oliverjava?
