Cheers on the 2 Years, @Mno !!
Day 344.
A long one, ups and downs galore, but allās well that ends sober.
Embarrassing - I was rummaging around in a kitchen drawer and found my lifeās collection of corkscrews and bottle openers. I used to travel fairly frequently for work pre-pandemic, and if I forgot one of those Iād buy a new one to avoid calling the hotel front desk, etc. One more thing I donāt have to worry about - packing a corkscrew with me everywhere I go, (once I start going anywhere again, that is)!
For now - Iām going to go put this Monday to bed.
We did another one, friends. Letās see what sober discoveries tomorrow (today for some of you) holds!
Gānight all
@Mno yay!
How exciting! I remember my move like it was yesterday. It was actually in August of 2005.
Exactly as you say, I was nervously excited - not to mention a bit stressed. Iām delighted to say that it all worked out well. We are still here almost 16 years later.
For the first couple of years I wanted to go back to my old school to do a session with my old colleagues to tell them how great it was - but Iām not sure how well that would have gone down.
Anyway, for what itās worth, I think youāre doing a brilliant thing. Enjoy it.
A word of warning, though. Once you get there, there will be a lot of bonding with your new colleaguesā¦which will involve a lot of invites to drinks. Teachers drink a lot, but overseas teachers drink even moreā¦itās one of the reasons that Iām here.
@Beforemy30s Iām a teacher abroad too! I am in Japan teaching English at university. I donāt know about in Hungary, but in Japan the number of foreign bars is incredible, and especially when you are feeling homesick in the early days, you head there for the familiar food / atmosphere. Good luck with it all!
Four months is tremendous! Congrats to you for each sober day past and coming forward!
In Budapest there are a lot of restaurants/bars offering foreign food, not sure about brit cuisine thoughā¦ The rest of the country is a lot less international to say the least. The drinking culture is pretty strong everywhere in the country.
Congratulations, Menno!
Congratulations on your 2 yearsā¦ hugs and love from Hawaiāi
Day 513! Checking in sober while having some coffee. The weather is great here today and next few days! Sucks I canāt enjoy it very long before going to work.
Anyway. I feel pretty good. Things are stable and sober. Looking forward to the summer!
Have a great tuesday everyone!
Congratulations Menno again
