Checking in daily to maintain focus #46

@Zeekinout well done on four months! Amazing work. I’m so happy you have your life back, it’s such an awesome feeling, to wake up from being in that fuzzy control of booze.
I just wanted to say, I was sober on my wedding day. We made it a day wedding, and still had an open bar for our guests, but it really didn’t feel like we were missing out, we had so much good stuff going on that day, we got to really enjoy our family and be present. I’m hrateful I have that day sober in my mind
Congrats again!

148 days :sparkles:
Hey guys, still trucking on with nearly 5 months. I’m feeling okay, my health focus is still clean. I’m happy to be taking care of myself again.
Alcohol really stole my ability to plan and make goals for my future. We are looking at holidays for the family next year, something that wouldn’t be possible if we hadn’t stopped blowing our money on booze and cleaned up our finances.
We still don’t have a hot water system, which sucks hard. I didn’t realise how much I depend on a warm bath:shower in the evenings to relax and wind down. Water is my happy place. I’m still able to use my gym showers in the morning. But I’m feeling a little lost and bummed in the evenings. Oh well, won’t be too long now. Just gotta get through til Monday 🥲
Take care, keep sober everyone

Day 144

Just finished a 45 min elliptical run, embracing the fact that it’s so imperative to burning off the extra ‘everything’ that builds up in my mind otherwise.
10yo stayed home bc getting over a cold. Been a pretty chill day, for the most part. I’m gonna meditate and journal to make sure it stays that way.

Kudos to @Piglet86 for 60 days, @BrianP and @Zeekinout for 4 months! (and congratulations on the wedding Zack!) and last but not least: @cat-i-am 600 days is fabulous!

@Juli1 Wow, you have an impressively eclectic skill set and hobbies! :astonished:

That must be nice. I’m terrible with anything that requires discipline. You look radiant, BTW.

I know exactly where you’re coming from. Sometimes I’m so down that brushing my teeth feels like a chore. I’m glad you’re exercising some self-care. :hugs:

Wow, do I have a lot of ways to follow up on that. I got a passport so I could see Belize, had plenty of money saved so I decided to relapse. That was 4 years ago still haven’t used my passport. I should have been gearing up to hike the Camino de Santiago about 2 weeks from now, but beer called. :frowning: One of my relapse warning signs is I quit thinking about my long term plans.

@Kelsbels0852 Welcome to TS! :hugs:

Day 16
Pretty chill day. Total stranger helped me get my nicotine patches today, which brings me to the dilemma; what do I do with the cigarettes I still have? Probably give them to Neighbor Joe. I was talking to this woman about my employment situation, more specifically getting to work once I’ve found a job. She said her church would help with a one month bus pass, so I got two blessings from one person. Otherwise, not much to report. Finally have a kitchen table, thanks to Joe rearranging his apartment, so I don’t have to eat at the coffee table anymore.
Every one, have a good sober evening! :v:

I’m doing really well at the moment. It’s been a crazy roller coaster ride the last almost nine days. I’ve learned to grit my teeth with determination during the rough times. But even better I’ve learned to lean into the moments of feeling really well and remind myself that those moments will come more often and for longer.
I added my savings and in just nine days I’ve saved $75. I’m on a fixed income and I threw so much money away on cancer sticks! Crazy!

I decided to check on savings on my drug addiction side. I used the ‘90’s prices since that’s the last I knew. Check out how much moola I saved by getting clean. That doesn’t include additional costs for parties or whatever. Just $30 a day. That’s freaking insane! God bless recovery, recovering addicts/alcoholics and everyone who has been a part of my recovery. Together we can!!

Today is my Day 1. I’ve reached out for professional help and started online meetings. This is not my first Day 1, but hope it is my last. Thank you all for being here and I am hoping to be able to connect here frequently. It was so helpful a year ago and wish I’d stuck around.
