Why is everything so existential right now? It’s equal parts annoying and hilarious. I was thinking of the place I was born in (California) and what that ‘means’ and how maybe that means I’m a hippie.. Ok, brain…:brain: :peace_symbol: :v: :dove:

What’s up Ami. Long time no talk. Well probably not that long. Actually on the way across state for the walkthrough today and settlement is May 14th so been busy. Hope your mood gets better. How’s my brave puppy dog doing?

I call with me: Born in Sweden, by Romani (Gypsy) parents from two different countries.

One adopted by christian missionaries (That’ll be my mother) With family in both Sweden and Estonia.

My father’s side is pretty much like the gypsies you read about, dark skinned, long dark hair, golden teeth, golden earrings and questional jobs for a living. Scattered across the globe.

Raised in both Pentecostal and Catholic church cause everyone wanted a say in our raising.

Married a half Serbian guy raised in Sweden,Serbia and Ukraine.

According to your existential Theory I guess that’ll make me a Jack of all trades :joy:

Or as I say a little of everything, Nothing of all.
It’s good because that means no rules applies to me, no side likes me anyway no matter what I do.

Thank you for sharing about your life, Sophia. Fascinating!

I was just thinking that as well. So many influences! But it’s really good. If I only lived in one place…ugh. Insular culture. Not for me.

I was born in California, grew up in the Northeast US near New York City, and then moved to Texas as an adult. Also lived in Oregon for a while. I’ve never adjusted to Texas so I’ll be moving. To the Rockies, likely. Guess my brain wants a plan! It’s good to be clearing up enough to make plans. :white_check_mark:

So I’m 8days and 19hours sober. Have met a doctor to get my labs done (the ones about liver function were a bit high but not too bad). I also started this program, I think it’s called Minnesota model or something. I’m doing it online as late afternoon web meetings (we can see everyone and talk and go through stuff) so I can still keep going to work because work also helps me keep on track. feeling good and excited!

You’re welcome, and thank you for sharing as well.

I love stories like this, and different theories about life, it’s so interesting.

I’ve only been to Tennessee (Memphis and surroundings)

Would love to go to Texas, New York, or any other place.
For us going to US is like living in a movie.
We’re so constantly fed with American tv shows or movies over here. So it feels surreal.

A plan is always a good idea to have.
Hope you’ll like it better at next place.
If I ever move again I’m going to some place warmer. My husband have a dream about going back home, so we’ll see. Maybe we do end up there in 10 years or so.

Going to Sweden would be like a movie to me! :grinning: I am interested in finally getting to Europe. But then, which country? All the countries! Top of mind: Ireland (relatives), Scotland (relatives), Spain and all of Scandinavia. Guess I’d better get started…haha

How kind of you to tell your story. It helps me to know I’m not alone. There are some places that feel right, and some not. When I was drinking everything felt muted and very wrong. Now I can start making good decisions.

Day 44 check :white_check_mark:

Well … I have dipped both feet into bhuddism whilst in recovery. But life’s got me back into it’s whirlwind rush and problems.
@Soberbilly has ignited that light in me again. Thank you my friend
And I just only went and looked at the one face to face meeting at recovery dharma near me.
Well it’s only this evening… and guess what… the bus right outside my house takes me there…

:eyes: No more excuses Twizzlers!!

Are you referring to my quick family tree or my story at the “My story” page?

I’ve got plenty of stories either way.

And no matter what, It’ll happily share it.
If it helps anyone, there was a point with it.

Europe has so many amazing countries and places to visit. Just like US.
I would recommend you to go to Scandinavia during late spring or Early summer April-July. Otherwise you might end up in am eternal darkness and something that looks like a black and white movie.

During winter here we get around 3 hours/ daylight. Daylight doesn’t necessarily means sunlight, just that it’s less dark than pitch black.
Sumner especially now in late spring early summer it’s the other way around with nearly 24 hours of daylight. Midnight sun is actually a real thing here.

It starts to get brighter in December winter solstice with a few minutes a day, peaks at the Summer solstice around midsummer and then slowly turns darker again.
I late August we have darker evenings again.

Since my father’s become sober (4yrs) he began researching his heritage and decided he’s a Pomeranian :joy: He’s 1st/2nd generation Swedish/Polish. The history checks out but I think he just likes the title :smirk:

I’ve been to almost half the states, and Tennessee’s the most beautiful one to me. If that’s the only state you’ve seen, you got to see a good one

Same. I’m not a history buff in the least and didn’t even know it was an actual place

I’ve got friends and family there. Love them all.
Everyone is so friendly and talkative, no matter where you are.

It’s the only state I’ve ever seen yet.
I’m definitely going to more places in the future. Palm Beach Florida for example, Lilly Pulitzers Flagstore is located there

But before we go back, my husband wants to go back "home"and I want to show the boys more of Europe.

Hi Sophia,

The family tree, things you have shared with us on this thread. I will check out your story as well. I think they’re important and definitely they can help others. If even one person can relate to something you’ve said, and feel less alone and part of our community, it’s totally worth it. You have a lovely way with words and are an excellent storyteller! I am noticing bits of my own story starting to tumble out. My head is finally clear enough to see patterns and influences. It’s super cool.

Thank you for the advice on when to travel! I would forget about the darkness and snatch up those travel deals…oops. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: I need daylight to stay happy so thanks!
