Checking in daily to maintain focus #82

Day 2 no alcohol. Going back to work after a horrible hangover from a work party I totally embarrassed myself at. Feeling embarassed, ashamed, unworthy.

I know that for me if I drank and didn’t reset my clock it would just give me permission to do it again. I understand the desire to not want to start over but you’re only hurting yourself by not.

That’s how I feel too! It would be awful to have to reset my counter.

If I pick up a drink my counter will be the least of my worries. My being alive clock would probably end up at 0 as well.

Day 17

Good morning, yesterday at work was a little stressful and boring at the same time. I had to leave early for a counseling session and that went well. Came home to my power being back on and did my daily routine after work. Got my dishes done, had a snack for dinner as I didn’t feel like cooking. Woke up once during the night and half hour before my alarm so I just laid in bed until it went off. I am feeling a little tired. Made my coffee and its almost time to leave for work. Hope everyone enjoys their day.

Thursday AM :waving_hand:t3:

Started off the day with a stream of thoughts of self-pity and anger regarding my life demands. I’m using this message as my turning point to move on from that.

Today is pyjama day at daycare.. going to put my daughter in a new set of Christmas jammies. Already looking forward to it. Going to get back into Christmas wrapping right after work. I’ve been burnt out this week, and running out of spark for some things. Thankfully my daughter, housework, and my fitness are the things I keep high-level effort for. Hopefully I catch up on a bit of mental rest ASAP…

Thanks for being here, and take care of yourself on your ODAAT

afternoon edit:

Didn’t realize how much of a downer that morning post was. Things are going well today, and there are lots of highlights, including a successful work meeting, and perfect time with my daughter getting her ready and to daycare this morning.

Day 1404
I havent checked in on this thread in a few days. Thank you @DanielaJ for thinking of me and sort of encouraging me to get back here

I am still clean and sober but I am REALLY struggling with my eating, lack of exercise, and my weight. My routine is really off and has been for most of December bcuz my son has been home. I tend to rely heavily on routine and it takes me some time to adapt to new ones when the need arise. I have gained weight (not sure how much as Im scared to step on a scale) but I am going to do my best today to get back on track. My new health program begins in January so thats good. And i will be able to get to the gym beginning of January when my son returns to school, so thats also good.

But because Ive been down about my weight and eating not great foods, Ive noticed that Im extremely tired… like alot of the time. Ive had no motivation to even do my morning recovery routine (which isnt good). So today is the first day that Im getting back to that. Feels good honestly. Hope everyone is doing well. I have a lot of catching up to do lol Have a fabulous day everyone!

So good to see you :purple_heart: The good thing about your tools is: They are always there and you can pick them up, even when you had to pause a little bit.

When you care your kid, a lot of attention shifts away from your routines and toward others. That’s probably normal to a certain extent. But don’t forget: you can only take good care of your child if you also take care of yourself. It’s so nice to see you here again. I’m sending you lots of love and strength and don’t forget: The scale doesn‘t destroy how beautiful you are :purple_heart:

@Bekah212 how are you doing today? Loved your update. Glad you reached out here and got the support necessary. Know we are here anytime you need…love that about this community…open 24 hours 7 days a week :people_hugging:. Wishing you a calmer day today :folded_hands:t4:
@DanielaJ my siblings and bil were absolutely amazing in getting.r moved in over the weekend. Only 10 min away from my brother’s home so unpacking was easy as I don’t really have much and clothes were on hangers to be put away. Have some minor things to do but taking it easy. Well done on your 40 days! Something to be super proud of :flexed_biceps:t4: sorry you aren’t feeling so great. Are you able to take a moment for yourself? Hope you can shake the sick feeling. For me comedy cures so much…I can usually laugh myself back into a positive state. Wishing you Deep breathes and calm vibes my friend. Here if you need :people_hugging::two_hearts:. Hope the appointment went well :folded_hands:t4:

@Tragicfarinelli :people_hugging::people_hugging: oh I’m sorry love. I know how hard you have been working and it is devastating to not have some opening or direction with the job hunt. I am sorry you had to deal with that TF. I know sometimes we want to close off and take the hard news silently but that’s when the community can help uplift. Hope you know that you are loved and missed and we are here for you don’t ever let that alone time fester too long. Glad you are getting back in the horse. Love that you have such a lovely creative outlet. Could this turn into something  sending love and hugs :hugs: :revolving_hearts:. I am resting up and healing…trying to remember it takes time and that is ok. I do miss my swim time tho lol. Omg! Can’t wait to celebrate your sobriety and boys coming home festivities with you.

@Chevy55 :folded_hands:t4: so sorry for your loss. Sending love and condolences to the family. A true reminder of how precious and fragile life is. I will follow your lead in staying positive and grateful today :people_hugging:

@addeline glad you are back and working on your sobriety. The early days are hard enough, don’t let guilt, shame and embarrassment add to it. Use those feelings to solidify your sobriety. You are on day 2…should be proud. Find support, tools to help you through and a good plan. Stay connected here. Take it one moment at a time :flexed_biceps:t4:

@SimplyRose welcome to the community Rose. :hugs:Great start on your journey. Look forward to seeing you here with us. You may also find useful tips on What’s YOUR plan? Thread.

@Butterflymoonwoman sending love and hugs my friend. :hugs::revolving_hearts: I know how lack of routine can throw us off. Sucks that the body doesn’t take a second to gain weight when we miss a week from our workout but takes its sweet time to shed it when we work our butts off in the gym. I know you’ll get back on track soon enough. I’m sure you are still very active at home with all you need to do. Be kind to yourself. :folded_hands:t4:

Checking in on Thursday morning

Feeling ok. Have a headache and feeling dizzy so just laying and trying to enjoy coffee in the sun. A beautiful day where it’s going to be so hot for December. Hopefully I will make it out today. Trying to breathe through the day.
Wishing everyone a wonderful addiction free day…sending you all so much love

Wow, ur absolutely right my friend. What u said here, really hit me:

I agree with this 100%. The past few days i have been sooo tired that i havent done too much with him besides relax (he did help me with cupcake decorating yesterday tho). Im a much better and more active mom, when Im caring for myself and my mental health. The gym helps my mental health tremendously. When i dont excerise, i need to find other ways to help my mental health. I just realized that now  I just really appreciate u saying what u did. Bcuz it sort of snapped me out of my funk. Ur the BEST!!

Day 29

This day has been absolutely amazing so far. I took the lesson from yesterday and have already started applying them today.

I started my day with positivity and positive reinforcement. I woke up to encouraging comments from fans on my YouTube. My sponsor sent me a really powerful morning text. I read the Betty Ford “Thought For The Day”. I then looked for a motivational quote that I could apply to the day.

I laid in bed longer than usual to get my mind right. My wife was gracious enough to make the kids breakfast and take them to school. I took a hot shower, did my spiritual cleaning (wudu) and prayed.

From there I went to the kitchen and had my morning drink. Baja gold salt water & creatine. I did the “Step 1” homework my sponsor gave me as I sipped my hot coffee.

I feel motivated, I’ve planned the rest of my day with intension. I’ve got to go to the grocery store to pick up a few things for dinner. I’m filming, making an authentic bolognese sauce with fresh fettuccine for my YouTube channel.

A few things on the to do list, along with a couple of meetings. It’s going to be a productive, successful day!

Have an amazing day everyone!

Checking in on day 377

I’m off today, but still experiencing some work anxiety. With the state of my mental health lately, thoughts of numbing out are strong in my mind. I do know that that won’t help me at all long term and would actually hurt. I won’t drink today.

Today I have training for my pup, therapy, and a date with a horror film. I won’t have my normal Thursday evening alone. Husband is watching me closely because my therapist initiated Project: Maddie Safety- tough honestly but I’m grateful for people who care about my safety. I’m hanging in there. The only way out is through.

I’m loving reading everyone’s updates and anniversaries lately. I hope you’re all feeling okay today. Stay safe.

Hi @Butterflymoonwoman ! I wanted to say that I understand the struggle with eating, exercise, and life and energy getting in the way of the routines that I want to have. I’m sending big hugs your way as you work toward self care during these low times. I’m so grateful for your energy as you show up here for all of us- don’t feel guilty giving some of that back to yourself. You deserve it.

Hiya Madds, puppy training is a fantastic time. Alfie was never fussed about meaty treats as a training aid, but would and has jumped through hoops for a morsel of cheese.
It sounds like you have a great support network there and are really working hard. Maddie-Safety top priority. :+1:

Thanks for checking in! Things went ok, we decided to leave the market for another day and just met mum, had to sign power of attorney papers and such (she’s getting up there God love her) which was a bit upsetting but important ig - tried to go shopping after but was a bit too much, but we snagged a festive jigsaw from the charity shop and got a library card for my partner - and nothing terrible happened!! Anxiety can be so dramatic lol

You’re doing a great job, Cass. You’ve had testing times and worked hard to push through. Just keep going, and it’s great to have a little time to reflect on how far you have come. :slightly_smiling_face:
