Checking in daily to maintain focus #88

Checking in sober. Friday morning after overnight shift. We were slammed. I guess the holiday long weekend started early. So grateful not to be out there. Be careful on the roads, Labor Day plus first rain here in the PNW have made it bad. Extra dui enforcement, though, we saw them last night bringing in a few for us to sort out. Primary, Chronic, Progressive, and Fatal. That’s alcoholism. Let’s not drink today.

Checking in on day 5! Had a safe travel day yesterday. This new medication is taking some adjusting but overall it’s okay. I have been trying different times of day to take it to see how it impacts me so today I’ll take it tonight before bed.

I didn’t get to read much last night but I did meditate and that calmed my anxiety so I could get a good night’s sleep. Looking forward to a fun day with family including our annual small town Labor Day festival which features bingo all weekend long!

Good afternoon, everyone, day 370 (almost).

More Minnie training today and a visit from the vet. Vaccinations done and some calming pheromone spray ordered along with a four-week prescribed chewable tablet called Reconcile. The vet was confident that she will be fine left on her own after four weeks.

I had told people I would pop into the pub and see them this week while I was off, but I have been so preoccupied getting the dog settled, everything has taken a back seat. Funny how in my drinking days everything took a back seat also.

Hope you all have a good day today.

Day 298

Feeling better today, I have new glasses which helps. I’ve needed some for a while but was focused on getting my husband better and a massive project at work. I just need to remember not to squint now.

Wishing everyone a successful sober weekend

A friend in recovery told me that using dreams are a free pass without consequences. It took their power away.

Hope your feeling better.

Day 417 AF

Not having the best week. There has been some challenges around some family stuff that has me pretty down. I did have a really good conversation with my brother yesterday about it and just going to keep focusing on the things I can control. Even though I have been struggling this week, the urge to drink did not cross my mind. The one thought I did have was how much worse drinking would make me feel. Feels good to have alcohol be a distant thought in difficult times. Instead using the tools from therapy to get through things.
On another note, I have my first CrossFit comp tomorrow. :flexed_biceps:t3::fire::raising_hands:t3: Super nervous but also super excited for it. Taking a rest day today to give myself a break before the full day tomorrow. Below is the breakdown, have 4 workouts that I will complete with my partner.:clap:t3:

Hello! Back on the check in thread after a long summer break. I’ve pushed through a lot since late May when my second daughter was born. Working dad life with my wife in rough shape did a number on me. It’s just been very long days with no personal time or spaces and vastly insufficient recharge time spaced far apart that felt like a bandaid on a gunshot wound. I’ve started parental leave September 1st, and I’m incrementally getting back more human. I’ve still got to strategize and figure out how to adjust to not having personal time and space. At least now I am feeling more present, without the additional tabs of work running in my head all day. And I’m proud of my resistance to taking the easy way out and numbing the discomfort. My patience and resilience is fully back in the morning routine when my overtired momma bear wife starts her first interaction of most days in head-ripping-off mood. My 3-year old had a tough few days in a new school, so I spent the days with her this week til yesterday. It was nice to be present and not thinking about all the deadlines. Also great to come home and make a tasty dinner for the family without it feeling like a totally exhausted obligation.

Overall, life is good, and I’m looking forward to being back seeing you on here more. Little miss is waking up.

Enjoy your day and keep fighting the good fight.

Checking in with 59 days

Today is fine. I had a bit of a rocky night in terms of mental health and behaviors but I phoned a friend and came out of it sober and safe. I havent had the urge to numb out so strongly since my recent relapse. I had a good workout this morning and I’m settling in with a movie and enjoying my last day off before a long stretch of work days. I hope everyone is having a peaceful day today.

Hey ST Community, Just wanted to Check-in w429 days of Soberity. Just trying to relax and not to stress out, I been struggling with this phantom music hearing syndrome stuff. Ugh  , Other than that, There are days I really have to pray for the strength to help me through, with keeping calm. It’s still a win, just being Sober. ODAAT. Over head it Labor Day weekend, it’s feel like we just hand Fourth July with all the fireworks :fireworks: :sparkler:. Now more fireworks Ugh   LoL. Anyways I hope everyone is thriving and I hope y’all have a wonderful day.

Day 35

I inadvertently shared some information a friend had given me with another friend. From their conversation, I thought the second friend knew more than they actually did, but it turns out my friend had only shared the basic details, not the whole situation. So I accidentally shared private information that wasn’t mine to share.

I realised my mistake straight away and called my friend to explain what I’d done and apologise. He was very understanding and told me not to think any more about it because he wouldn’t. But the guilt I felt at having betrayed his confidence was crushing, even painful.

I haven’t felt such strong, uncomfortable emotions since I stopped drinking. I really imagined getting a bottle of wine just to make the feeling stop. Part of the intensity could be where I am in my cycle, but still, the feelings were overwhelming for a while.

They’ve lessened now though. I’m home safe. I still feel restless, so I’m planning to get a takeaway and a tasty soft drink, have an early night and hopefully wake up feeling refreshed.

Hope everyone is okay  X

Day 1664 clean and sober
Day 89 binge free
Day 1 free from compulsive eating behaviors

Im here and doing much better today. Grateful to be clean and sober amd grateful to havw my supports like you all!

This week and a bit has been difficult to say the least. Im trying to give myself grace for my eating habits not being very good at the hospital, but the reality is… i wasnt doing the daily work. IF i HAD been doing the work while at the hospital (even the very basics like prayer or listening to a podcast or reading etc), I probably would almost have 1 month of being free from compulsive eating behaviors. If Im being honest… i did eat to cope with my emotions/stress while in hospital. And even though stress and intense emotion is naturally going to happen when ur in hospital, i didnt have to cope and self-harm in that way.

So ya, i went to an online meeting today which was exactly what i needed. Im getting up and off the couch, tidying up the home, im checking in here, praying, and doing my daily readings. Ive gotten in touch with my sponsor also and will continue with the nightly check ins now. Im eating better today and picking myself up and being productive.

I feel better today! And its BECAUSE Im doing the work. Every single time I think I can stop doing the work bcuz im doing okay, i HAVE to remember that Im doing well BECAUSE of the work being done on a daily basis. No reason to stop.

Hope everyone is doing well! I havent read very much lately and Idk if I can catch up from like a week ago lol. But congratulations to anyone celebrating a milestone or who is coming back :people_hugging: Welcome to anyone new! Glad ur here!!
