Good topic. Being surrounded by other Christians has helped me stay sober and get my life back on the right track. Knowing that God loves us no matter what we have done is such an amazing truth.

Good Saturday mornin’, from the great state of Alabama, and roll tide… :elephant::football::elephant:

From my studies this a.m. …
He forgives. He heals. He redeems. He crowns. He satisfies. Do our addictions? No!

Was reading a devotional this morning. Brought to tears because I know, as recently as yesterday, I haven’t “renounced the hidden things of shame”. 2 Corinthians 4:2 shook me to the core about some ongoing sin in my life. Anyway, fast fwd to 2 Corinthians 4:6. Y’all. The part about “Let light shine out of darkness” boldly resonates with me, not just in terms of my rebirth thru Christ, but also the sobriety transformation He is working in me. It came to mind, what if “His light shown out of her darkness” was one day written on my tombstone. I used to say I’d want, “Absent from the body, present with the Lord” on there. God can turn my/our darkness to light. I have to do my part too though, with one being, renounce my hidden things of shame. Amen.

Been reading commentaries about this verse and the rest of the passage today. Good stuff.

Do y’all have “Storytellers” events in your communities? Went to my 1st one yesterday. It was cool. I learned about them from a facebook post. I think they’re held all over the U.S. It’s basically where someone tells a story of how God has moved in his or her life.

Was just reading Psalm 124. I love redbirds. The part from verse 7, “We have escaped like a bird from the snare…”, made me think I’ve escaped the snare of addiction thru Christ Jesus. When I see a cardinal today, I’ll remind myself of God’s help and my freedom, like a bird, through Him.

Very cool, it’s been a while since I have been in Psalms so i will definitely check that one out. How do you tap into His power if you don’t mind me asking? Is it mostly through prayer? Or more of a constant dialogue with His Spirit?
