Clonazepam .5

The dr i get my subutex also gave me a prescription for klonopin .5’s to take before bed because i haven’t been sleeping good and wake up with panic attacks. Ive only taken it twice but ive read alot of bad things about it. Is anyone else on it or taken it? Is there a better medication as a alternative i could talk to him about? Thank you!

I would tread lightly…benzos are a MF to get off

Amen to what @Eric_Leonard said. A few nights crap sleep isnt nearly as devastating as getting hooked on benzos. Once we realize we have one addiction, we should be extra cautious with other addictive substances because it’s often a general vulnerability…

Also mixing benzos and buprenorphine (Subutex) can be very dangerous due to increased risk of overdose/ stopping breathing and is usually medically contraindicated

Trazedone is another antidepressant that is often prescribed for sleep. It is non addictive and doesn’t leave most folks feeling groggy. Might ask about that one.

I’m not sure where you live but in Canada Dr’s are VERY cautious who they prescribe benzos to.
My Dr knew my history with addiction and would only scribe me .25 mg and 10 at a time with “as needed” for my daytime anxiety. He watched very carefully how often I was refilling. At night I was prescribed everything from antidepressants to antipsychotics to help me sleep. I stopped them all and settled with sleep aid which is just 50 mg of Diphenhydramine (benadryl). On most nights it keeps me asleep so I dont experience the anxiety.

Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone. Honestly i didnt know what he was prescribing me, i just figured since its an outpatient rehab he wouldn’t have gave me something that would be addicting and i didnt know what it was. No sleep is fine its the panic attacks that scare me. I will talk to him about something non addictive… i dont need to add another addiction to my plate lol

Yea he only gave me 15 .5’s, as needed to sleep. It doesnt really help though i still wake up 2-3 times a night. Did u ever find something that worked… nonaddicting?

Yes, I just buy the extra strength off brand “sleep aid”, or unisom, or Zzzquil at the pharmacy. I take that and 20mg of melatonin about 30 mins before I want to nod off. Seems to work for me, I have been doing this for…must be 5 years now. My Dr said it’s fine to stay on wont have any negative long term effects on my body. It is diphenhydramine which is an antihistamine…

I found if I took the Sleep aid alone I could get to sleep but would wake up within a couple of hours. If I took the melatonin alone I couldn’t get to sleep. But when I take them together it works.

Hope this helps, not sleeping is a terrible thing.

And for my anxiety I have been using cbd oil. When I researched the amount they use for psychiatric patients it is very high. So I bought a 250mg per cc bottle and started taking 4cc’s in the morning and then if my anxiety hit me during the day I take another 4 cc’s. It has helped me. I know some people say it doesnt help them but I wonder if they are taking a high enough dose… and it has to be PURE cbd no thc
Most days the 4ccs in the am is enough. If you were to do this you might want to take the cbd at night instead of the morn… if your night anxiety is worse then the day.
