So a seemingly awesome guy named George Hotz has a product called comma. It’s open ai (which is awesome) and the latest version with some of the forks can drive a car really damn well… ex. Stop lights, navigation, lane changes, that sort of thing.
This dude is Elons biggest competitor and he’s way less crappy. I’m pretty sure I’m going to buy the comma 3x. It’ll be like $1,500 but make my long commute much less taxing.
Keep in mind you still have to be alert and ready to take over a camera does watch you. This product isn’t linked to anything if you don’t want it to be. It works on like 250 different manufacturers/ models.
It’s kinda like a Tesla except you won’t be stuck with a shitty car (they are getting better but build quality still lacks).
I have the regular “AI”ish features in my 2023 Hyundai - lane keeping control, smart cruise with automatic braking, lane drift warning, proximity alerts. On the highway, I set the cruise and the lane keeper, take my hands and feet off the controls and eat a sandwich.
Self driving cars will work best when there are more of them, and they can link up like train cars.
Thats definitely really cool and exciting i look forward to hearing about. My electric unicyle was like 2500 so i know what u mean. Its nice to treat ourselves, i just finished my stuff with my counselor today so ill be sending in for my license soon. Even when i get my license i will probably stick with my electric unicyle, way cheaper on everything and keeps me active lol
We also have a 2023 Hyundai hybrid with the same features…my husband loves them, me, not so much. The lane control is useless out here in rural squiggly road North Carolina…but works well on the rural .highways’ and Interstate 95 (when it isn’t busy).
I can definitely see the benefit for long uncongested drives on point and go roads.
Looking forward to hearing what you think @Dan531 !!
I bet your hubby would really love the comma if he likes the stock system. Tell him to look up the comma 3x if he has interest in that sort of thing. It may even handle the squiggly roads
This seems really cool. With the camera watching you to make sure you’re paying attention, what would you have to do for it to disengage other than fall asleep? Is it watching head movement? Can I eat while driving?
You can eat, I blocked the camera and it took about a minute for it to start complaining, told me to touch the steering wheel and when I didn’t it slowed the car down to like 20 mph. All that you’re really paying attention for is other drivers or wildlife. It’ll be much safer for me after my midnight shifts
Oh good! Thanks for testing.
You have a super loooong commute. I can see how much you’ll benefit from it.
Your post inspired me to watch a couple YouTube videos. I’m very intrigued. I’m definitely going to consider it when I get a new car within the next year or so (mine’s too old).
