Just watched this. What a great message. I particularly love the bit about the sober community, how instead of being based on achievements it’s a place where connections are formed on vulnerability. That wherever we get to with our suffering, attachments, addictions etc… We have things in common and by allowing help into our lives we can change and help others change too :sparkling_heart:

I particularly like that he talks about addiction as a social dilemma, taking the onus off the individual for a moment and acknowledging that society has an impact on the rampant addiction that exists as a way for people to even just cope with life these days. Regardless of the reason, whether it’s access to addictive substances or simply a need to escape, life is hard. I can only speak from my own perspective here in America that the pull yourself up by your bootstraps ideology is not a healthy way of showing people how to live a fulfilling life. So to hear him talk about addiction being a societal problem, what I’d call a public health issue, is comforting. I wish I could figure out how to watch this in half time, because he talks so fast for my brain! I’ve watched it a couple times after seeing it on Instagram this morning and I don’t think I’ve even captured half of what he is saying. Love it.
