Hi there fellow roamers .
has anyone recognized this kind of a thing : after some weeks of sobriety my mood enjoys carefully growing stability , even good streaks , but at the same time i find myself getting irritated more easily than earlier ?
what could that be ?

Emotional balance takes time. Quitting an addiction leaves gaps mentally, physically, and emotionally. Some of those heal over quickly, and some take time to resolve.
I found that the program of AA provided a way for me to make progress on my thoughts and attitudes, my actions, and my emotions. Those three, for me, thought - emotion - action, are a feedback loop. They can all impact each other. For instance, it took about 18 months for my digestion to recover from the years of damage my drinking did to it. So every day, multiple times per day in those first 18 months, I was reminded quite physically, of the damage I had inflicted on myself, and I would have various thoughts and feelings about it. And if I felt crappy (literally), I could develop a negative attitude, look for reinforcement that things were bad, and then act out because things were bad. The program of AA allowed me to accept that I had caused the damage, that the condition existed, and that I could do something about it, like drink fresh water and eat a balanced healthy diet.
In other words, emotional recovery takes time, emotional imbalance is a natural part of early sobriety, and we can take action to regulate ourselves.

I think it’s normal. If you’re facing an addiction, your body has some sort of chemical dependence and become wired to want some thing. If it’s gone, your brain can probably does try to “fight” for that thing. I guess it’s about finding new outlets, hobbies, walks, etc.

a lot of informatiin dearly needed ! thank you
Hey there
Irritability was a common emotion for me in early recovery lol. I got annoyed at everything and everyone it seems. Idk if it was bcuz i was just exhausted from trying to stay clean and sober (recovery can be hard work) or if it was due to the flood of emotion coming back. Either way it was frustrating going thru early sobriety that way.
I found doing my best to change my thinking snd attitude, thru gratitude lists super helpful. Theres a thread on this forum for gratitude
That and doing a morning recovery routine. It sort of helped set my day on the right path. Not sure if either of these will help you, but thought Id share just in case.
