I make my meeting at 6:30 and go straight to work after. My schedule is in tact! Also advice on my last entry would be appreciated

Have them listen to Jocko Podcast. Jocko is all about Discipline Equals Freedom. Better yet, you listen to it, and lay it on them.

A squared away room indicates a sense of pride. Maybe a contest over who can have the best. Maybe room of the week. Winner gets some special privilege. Men are competitive. No one wants to be last.

I agree with Yoda-Stevie. (Symbolic) prizes and rewards for desired behaviour. Some sort of competition.

I like to bake … this could work!

Ooohhh… ignore me I am just getting all interested but really have no clue.

Bring in something amazing the first time around as a hi Im Corin have a treat… hook them in.

And be all casual about it… make some sort of announcement post a flyer, and bring in the treat but dont give them out until you see action. And leave with the treats when they dont meet expectations.

Or… you may find that they like a certain thing that they want more of as you get to know them. Card games, extra time for some activity… I am thinking about my teens, right now, so may be super off base. McDonald motivates my oldest… Being a health and wellness coach this slays me everytime I use McDonalds as the prize.

What I did with my Marines was room of the week was exempted from having to clean common areas the following week. They just had to clean their own space. This was plenty of incentive and a room rarely won twice in a row. Soon everyone’s room was super squared away. It got really tough to pick which one was best.

Ahh yes the competition in the military, I think everything we ever did was some sort of competition of sorts, best qual, best pt score, best appearing whatever, it became more of a competition than a standard. But it motivated the fuck out of you

Give them a good smack and tell them to clean their shit, lol jk If theres any meth addicts ask them to clean they do a great job, also jk :stuck_out_tongue:

But seriously i would explain to them that having responsibilities is a part of the getting clean process and being held accountable. Explain that cleaning their rooms or common areas are a light and easy responsibility they need to make part of their routine. Mabe set a time like a hour a day for cleaning, and the reward system is a great idea, even if you just bring in some cheap candy, you’d be suprised how many addicts have a mega sweet tooth. I dont know if any of this helped just some ideas and what i would personally try doing

Thank you 4 all the input. Thats sounds like such a wonderful model to encourage. Tonight I just let them get to know me. When I explained " I am one of you" Their whole demeanor changed and it them at ease… and me too. From what I can tell it is an organization issue. Its not anyone persons fault. They were so warm and respectful… I think we had a great first interaction. I didn’t sit in the office. I engaged. They asked me to pick a movie and so we watched a movie. I have 9 guys total. I just found out its a 30 day program so most of them aren’t acclimated. I feel that my Mom energy was needed. Im just so blessed. I know God planted me right were I am suppose to be. I feel it in my bones I tell ya  I also see that the staff are amazing people, so strapped and overworked. I will be able to lighten the load. They told me I can get as involved as I want and I can run my shift how I see fit. They are open to suggestions and ideas I have to help… wow. :exploding_head:

Can confirm at least where i was. The rehab was run by the state so you basically get the same meals as people in jail/prison. So if you bring in any kind of real food or snacks, it will be a motivator lol

Where I went, was quite different,

Detox was like jail, very miserable I left there in an ambulance fighting for my life.

I went to a php program, the day we went to the center did groups, therapy, and music, we had a house we were bussed to in the afternoon, there we had TV, guitars, drums, keyboards internet and phone privileges, no cell phones though, food was what we requested and we made a meal each night we all took turns cooking, we would have a AA/NA meeting every night, with COVID we did it via zoom. Lights out at midnight. It was like high school with cigarettes, but it changed my life, I’m still close with a lot of the group I spent my 28 days with. We all spread apart, some fell out, others kept the path.
