I hate how alcohol is a big part of the corporate world. I have a corporate job and it’s hard not to celebrate and grab a drink when we have events going on. Today we have a retirement party (I am not attending) but alcohol is all around me, it’s almost as someone is trying to trick me.
My cravings are extremely high right now. On the app to vent for distraction and a reminder on why I am choosing sobriety.

I get that. I have attended a few corporate events and thankfully there wasn’t any alcohol involved as far as I remember. However there were times I was invited to a bar and to a colleague’s house and I refused because I know alcohol will be involved, I didn’t trust those people, and it’s not really my thing too.
I hope you will be able to keep your resolve and strength in your abstinence. I’m glad to know you decided to fight those urges and be here with us. You are supported here and we absolutely welcome everyone who are also in the fight to maintain their sobriety.

Colleague get togethers always involve alcohol for me too. Now I am secure in my sobriety I join enough to be social, but head home early. Early days (early months
) I would not have risked it, even though connections are a massive part of work here.

Hey!
I don’t have much advice for you but I can tell you that I can relate and also find it hugely frustrating.
I did make a few changes -
I stopped attending events where the POINT was drinking (common in my industry).
I started organizing events at my firm that had nothing to do with drinking. Breakfast get together rather than after works drinks. Tennis game rather than boozy Friday lunch. That sort of thing. I absolutely prefer it and realise that just “going to the pub” after work was an excuse to drink rather than a venue to socialise.
Most of the Gen Z folks Ive added to my team either don’t drink or drink a lot less which is helpful, too.

Maybe a meeting with like minded people might help wish you well
