Aw im so glad! It important to have a hobby. Youtube helped me so much. And I have not learned how to crochet. But always wanted too!
Oh i love it. You should share some of your old projects with us. That tension was a struggle LOL - still getting the hang of it.
I have gotten some crochet hooks and will keep trying my hand at it. Hopefully you don’t give up as I have been told that both have a different form of relaxing tendencies.
@Nomad620 Keep trying as I know I will too - I have seen some great crochet patterns that I really want to try one day LOL. When you get back from vacation you should share some of your completed projects with us.
That came out awesome!
Aww thank you so much! I have been working on it more. Btw your braclet looks awesome! Love the colors! Here my other two finished projects.
That’s the important thing- being happy with the project and enjoying your time.
Can’t wait to see pics when you are ready.
OH I LOVE THIS!!!
I too taught myself how to crochet, I have almost 4 years now and decided it was just time to have a hobby lol.
I really want to make an Afghan for my family as a Christmas present.
Welcome to the community. Oh how cool. I have not tried to make an Afghan yet…it can be a lot of work but you have some time so enjoy your process.
Looking forward to seeing your progress pics ![]()
Hello and welcome to the TS community. You’ve found the best thread to make your debut ![]()
I made a few blankets over the years, they always make great presents. Have you decided on a pattern, yet? Some patterns give you an estimate working time, to better plan how much time you’ll have to set aside to complete it. Keep us updated with progress pictures.
This moorland blanket was my absolute favourite to make. And the leftover yarn was enough for the matching bunting.

I made it up as I went along, no specific pattern. This makes a grapefruit sized pumpkin made with a 4mm hook.
Pumpkin body:
It’s worked flat. I made roughly 15 stitches single crochet over 40 rows to produce a rectangle twice as long as it is wide.
Sew together the short sides to make into a tube. Gather the stitches from one of the openings and pull together tightly. Fill with stuffing and close the top the same way.
Stalk:
This is worked in the round amigurumi style.
7 sc into a magic ring. 1 sc in back loop only in the second round. Continue 1 sc in each stitch through both loops until your stalk is long enough. Stuff and sew to your pumpkin.
Spiral:
Make a chain in your desired length. 3 sc in each stitch and it will turn into a spiral.
(2 sc for a looser spiral, 4 sc if you like it tighter, or alternate for something in-between… just play around with it)

I learned one knit stitch, made a couple v simple scarves then gave up - got a beginners crochet kit but couldn’t get it to work - and I’ve done a couple embroideries this year (well, one and a half) but I wanted to join in on this thread (pun intended) for some inspo in time for the cooler months ahead when I’m much more inclined to try again ![]()

Great to have you hear… definitely a fun hobby during the cold months.
I have found YouTube to be a great teacher with helping me learn the stiches. Look forward to seeing you and your projects ![]()
Wow. Thanks so much. You could sell that pattern on Ebay. Thank you for sharing with me. Very talented you are.
I love this! So cute! Thats impressive you did it with no pattern!
