Daily Gratitude List

I’m grateful that I am learning to be imperfect.
My life was going to be perfect. It’s not but it’s so excellent to be alive.
My marriage was going to be perfect. It’s not but I have grown so much and I don’t regret all that brought me here.
I was going to be the perfect dad. I’m definitely not, but it’s a privilege to have a part in my son’s life. I pray for the ability to get out of God’s path for him.
My recovery was going to be perfect! Far from it. And it won’t be moving forward. But I can believe there is happiness and freedom ahead if I can let go of self and my judgements of perfection.

I’m grateful it’s an “open-a-fresh-bag-of-coffee-beans” morning. Kicking Horse kick ass coffee. So beware, day - I’m armed and ready

I’m grateful I knew when to call it “done” yesterday instead of spinning my wheels. Today is a new day, I had a good sleep, and I’m gonna face it all (with snow chains on my tires to make it up the big hill o’ work and life!) instead of a hangover.

I’m grateful the phone consult with Mom’s docs went ok yesterday, or that I’m ok with it - I’m not actually sure which one it is, and that’s ok too. Less fighting about it all inside my head. A few more tears. Also ok.

I’m grateful some fresh snow is in the forecast today. I’m grateful that no matter what’s going on in my world and the world - there’s always time to push pause and go be outside. I’m grateful this is a priority. Like sobriety. Non-negotiables.

I’m grateful to be sober. I’m grateful for all the support I have to be sober. I’m grateful that every single day this feels just that much better and better. More like me. More like 11-yr old happy me. (Maybe I use crayons today?)

M and D? Today’s noooo different.

I’m grateful for another day. :orange_heart:

EDIT: prayers for peace today.

I am more than grateful for the people that God has removed from my life ( because I wouldn’t do it) and more so for the people he’s put in my life today.
I am grateful for my open mind
For my acceptance and tolerance
For my undeniable caring nature
For the whole that now is filled in my heart❤
For the way I see beauty in all things
For the way I see the good in people
For the light in my eyes
For loving myself
I will be forever GRATEFUL

So I’m going to refer to my feelings as a pool. I’ll dip my toe in now and then, never actually swimming…that seems too advanced at this time, lol. I do feel better after, but It seems like I’m on the high diving board looking down until I do. Make sense?
I’m a sucker for analogies.

And, I forgot about that, also with my sister in law. Last time I saw her, spoke to her was end of July, I guess.

Grateful that also tiny winky steps I learn to say what my opinion is and how I see things in life and don’t let others determine what I have to do or how I feel about what I think or do.

Good morning, Grati-dudes

Before I get on with my list, I wanted to share a site I thought might be of interest. The organization was started by Brother David Steindl-Rast - a monk who was approved by the Vatican to further Buddhist-Christian dialogue.

A friend mentioned this site to me a few years ago, and I would check it from time to time and always liked it. I signed up in January to receive their “word of the day” in my inbox.

Today’s seems pretty fitting for everything going on, in this forum and the world…

Word for the Day:
May the nectar of kindness touch our lips as we speak, may we find in ourselves the vast blue sky of inclusiveness and may our hands turn the wheel of time toward a more just world, a more beautiful world, a world worthy of our holy lives.
