Today I want to express my gratitude for comfy, practical clothing. I’m very set in my ways when it comes to selecting clothes and footwear in that if I find something I like I tend to stick with the brand for life. For example, I’ve only ever worn Levi jeans since I was gifted my first pair as a teenager. When my favoured clothing or footwear is discontinued I find it soooo frustrating. So here goes.

  1. Calvin Klein button fly boxers. I find most underwear causes chaffing, especially when exercising, walking or hiking. Not these bad boys. My perineum is grateful for CK’s and has been for 30 years.

  2. Ronhill jogging bottoms/tracksters. I first purchased a couple of pairs of these to wear for cycling about 25 years ago and I still have them. I was amazed to find them still available on Amazon a couple of years ago so I bought another 4 pairs. They should last me for the rest of my life now. :joy: I nickname them my Meggings because they look just like leggings for men. They’re the comfiest legwear I’ve ever worn and when the weather is cold I can also use them as a kind of thermal wear under my work trousers. They’re perfect for exercising and around the house huffle-buffs.

  3. Berghaus Hillmaster Goretex boots. I’ve been using this brand for about 10 years and they give my gouty feet and ankles the ultimate support. Thus reducing gout attacks and the effects of attacks. I have 2 unworn pairs in storage that should last me the next few years.

  4. JCB thermal socks. Like a warm fluffy cloud for your feet. Perfect for the cold days.

I know this appears commercial but I really really love comfort and I sometimes take it for granted. Can any of you guys relate or am I weird hahaha :joy:

Today I am grateful for self acceptance. For practicing acceptance of what I cannot control. For the quiet that comes from taking a moment to just be.

my 30 yr old daughter and I getting our relationship back on track. Had a blip on my 8 year sober anniversary last September. Apparently she still struggles from when I was in active addiction and was absolutely awful to me, I know that this is out of my control now and I can only keep doing what I’m doing to stay sober each day.

Wishing you all a peaceful and blessed Sunday :hugs:

Good morning!

I am grateful to be sober and healthy and happy today on my 61st birthday!

I’m grateful to my family for supporting my sobriety and even following me into this amazing life experience.

I’m grateful to be living this sweet sober life with my dear husband in our sweet little house.

I’m grateful that I took the time in late 2021 to learn about this and be brave and make the changes I’ve made. Because of sobriety and recovery work I am happier, healthier, safer, and I have pulled together enough Pennie’s to get ready for a modest little retirement later this year.

I’m grateful for my siblings. We grew up in chaos and emotional and physical danger. We have worked our way out of most of our troubles and have committed to caring for each other in ways we never knew as kids.

I’m grateful for my sons. They have grown into kind and gentle men who reflect the love I tried to give and have accepted my faults with grace and dignity.

I’m grateful to be winding down my 39th year in public education. Schools saved me, from the time I was a very young girl, through the years of my struggles and my active use of alcohol, and now in my recovery years. If it weren’t for the structure and connections I had in my life in schools, my life could have taken many more dangerous turns. My teachers and later my students saved me and for that I will be eternally grateful.

I’m grateful for the gift of time. It has taken many years to get to where I am today. I hope to have many more.

I’m grateful for the community of people who have supported people like me, people who found themselves in trouble with addiction, and who are taking one day at a time to crawl out.

If you are struggling today, I send you wishes for strength and determination and acceptance that using today will not help you and that coming to get support will.

It’s a great day to be another year older!

I am grateful to be sober.
I am grateful I am back home where it’s warm. Was thinking back. We had a coal heating until my mother moved in 2000 or 2001. I am grateful I don’t have to take the ash down before setting up a fire.
I am grateful someone offered me a ride today walking on some road in thick fog while I was busy imagining myself in a hot bath.
I am grateful there is a place I can put my thoughts. My thoughts are unstructured but well so be it.
I am always grateful some people developed and are still a closed loop system which facilitates my life a lot.
I am grateful I feel my anger coming up and let it out somehow. I certainly won’t drown it down with ethanol anymore.
I am grateful I have enough.

Edit: I am grateful I found some American late night show. I am grateful I can laugh about all this awful shit. This awful vile fucking shit.

Sunday morning that’s been good so far, time to reflect on what I’m grateful for.

I’m grateful for going to bed and waking up sober.

I’m grateful that god kept me sober yesterday.

I’m grateful that I slept in and had a relaxing morning in bed.

I’m grateful that I’m packed for vacation and only have to pack my carry-on.

I’m grateful for the day of self-care that I have a head. When you look good, you feel good and I can’t wait to look good.

I’m grateful that it’s Sunday, my spirits are high, my energy is medium but together it makes for a balanced mood.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Today I am thankful for:

A long 4 day weekend. I was an absolute loaf yesterday.I’m glad that I have the luxury to relax.

Pup cuddles

Getting to pick up the kiddo today. He’s started calling me to check in on me during his week away and I couldn’t be happier about that.

Having a woodstove and coffee on a chilly morning.

January will soon be gone with longer days for playing outside.

My home being simple to clean and maintain.

Sunday gratitude.

Today I’m grateful the big trigger is over. I made it. I did not congratulate my ex on his birthday. I’m still sober from codependent behaviour. And alcohol. Eating went overboard a bit but that’s ok. It was homecooked and I still have leftovers for tomorrow and the freezer. Progress, not perfection.

I’m grateful I had a plan and many, many sideplans, gotos and a solid emergency exit.
I’m grateful I got some long pending stuff done today and guess what … exactly, none of it took more than 15 minutes :see_no_evil_monkey::rofl:

I’m grateful I had much fun with the cats today, young cats are georgeous :sparkling_heart:

I’m grateful I adapt routines when it’s necessary and find other ways to get tasks done. This weather is challenging and I bet after I wull have reorganized some structural issues in summer we will have no such winter again until I die :woman_facepalming::grimacing: Anyway, I will be prepared :smiling_face_with_horns:

I’m grateful for doomscrolling garden and ikea stuff, I find it nice to learn what I will never do in my garden or my house

I’m grateful how to party looks like for me and I enjoy it: A big cup of good tea, a yummi toast and the current garden magazine (yes, the print version ), a purring cat on my legs, a snoring dog beside the couch, two young idiots making shenanigans on the armchair and ignoring my calls to order :joy: after 10 p.m.!!! Oh boy I’m gonna pay for that tomorrow getting up at 5 a.m.
I’m grateful I already know: waking up sober and not regretting your own behaviour never gets old :folded_hands:
