Daily Gratitude, The Air Of Recovery #9

Today I am grateful for:

• Quickly finding my way back to this place after breaking my 2 year abstinence from alcohol

• My incredibly understanding partner

• My decision to revisit a therapist

Today I’m thankful for:

Noble work that improves my community and which happens at a slow pace. It gives me time to make adjustments and work through rejections and redirection.

Seeing that I need to work on making my environment and my atmosphere and my purpose the focus of my life right now. Someone posted a meme about improving your garden to attract the butterflies instead of chasing them with a net. It’s such an apt image of where my goals should be.

Things to do around my area for the new year and not traveling. I’ve been traveling a lot lately and it would be good to try connecting more with people here.

Feeling better about my choices. And glad to be through the holidays.

Being in fairly good shape for turning 42 in a few days. I think I can really build upon the changes I’ve made in the year ahead. Maybe I’ll see abs by this time next year?

Coworkers who are pretty darn good humans.

Grateful:

I ā€œforcedā€ myself to go and get some seasonings from my car. I haven’t even had salt in two months.
Comparing thoughts to ā€œJust Give Upā€ and the fact that I quit drinking for the reason of danger. It’s important to acknowledge and fight off negative emotions and mood and celebrate what I have done - my WHOLE life and the last two years.
My kids are healthy and independent because I raised them that way.
The temperature 32 Degrees F feels BALMY after two days of frigid wind.

YOU. HERE. LIFE.

Day 41

It seemed like the day flew by and I’m completely drained from it. I did accomplish what I set out to do but not at a high level. Boxes were checked and great moments were experienced.

I’m grateful for the dishes I cooked today. All the flavours hit the spot and had me satisfied. I made a pastrami style brisket, an amazing guacamole, deviled eggs and a dumpling soup.

I’m grateful that I was able to lend an ear to a friend that just needed to vent. I missed a regular meeting to do this, I’m grateful that I was able to self sacrifice for someone else that has helped me in the past.

I’m grateful that I spent a lot of time with my kids today. It was a relaxing environment. They didn’t complain about having to do their school work or exercise. They were into their activities and I rewarded them with Xbox time. It was fun watching them play against each other with all the excitement they had.

I’m grateful that I was able to get up a YouTube video. I don’t feel like it was my best work, but I liked the recipe I shared. It seemed like a task today, my words weren’t working, the edit was weak, and I had low energy. I’m grateful I worked through it and did what I had to.

I’m grateful that we are snowed in for New Years Eve. We have a nice night planned at home with great food and activities. I’m grateful we won’t have to fight with crowds, the cold and the travel times of our original plans.

I’m super tired, I just want to put my phone away and relax the night away into a deep sleep. Enjoy!

Today I am grateful for a good day. I didn’t sleep well but my morning started on a good side. This sets my mood for a great day.

I am grateful for the snow storm to not pile up too much overnight. My husband and I went out together and cleaned it all together which I am grateful for.

I am grateful for knowing how great I am at work. A co worker messaged me about something, I solved it and when I told her about it and what was going on she didn’t even reply nor acknowledge what I said.

I am grateful for the day we had in our home. The kids listened and we all had a good day.

I am grateful for the microwave that lasted us over 5 years and gave out today after I heated up my lunch. Time to shop for a new one!

I am grateful for when I tuck my kids into bed. I love hugging them up, tickling them and doing all the silly things I can to them while they let me.

I am grateful that my little boy still lets me treat him like a baby with all the snugs, he came into bed and I sang him lullabies.

I am grateful that we are staying in for NYE as another snow storm hits us. I am going to make delicious snacks for the night and have a game night with the family.

Have a good night!

Grateful that I can approach NYE without the beast on my back.

Thankful that I have a loving family that I rely on and who rely on me.

Maybe I will go for dinner in a restaurant later, maybe I won’t. But having a choice like that is not something everyone has which I’m thankful for this morning.
