Daily Greeting

Oh… what’s he doing there? Thought he wasn’t a fan of Halloween… maybe I don’t know him as well as I thought.

Figures that he’d dress up as Crookshanks. Prowling around under Harry’s Invisibility Cloak is a good explanation to handle those who can’t see it. :smirk_cat:

Ok, side story. I live in a small city, we’re surrounded by nature but it really does not feel very rural. So I often forget that the population density in the region overall is not super high (some quick research tells me it’s 3/sq km.). The reason this comes to mind is that I looked up what AA meetings there were in the district tonight. Four of them… and two in communities I hadn’t heard of. When I Googled one of them, the most information I could find about it was on a page that said this:

Although we found mention of [community name] during our research, we really don’t have any information about it. We believe that [community name] had a post office at one time. We have done a cursory search and haven’t been able to find any evidence that the community still exists…

It does exist, but yeah. AA certainly shows up in unexpected places.

You ok James?
Got anything else you could do if the music isn’t working?

Holding steady, it seems. Drinking hasn’t been on my mind, so no worry about that. And it feels like the kind of thing that resolves in a day or two, so I just have to focus on tonight.

There’s stuff I can do, just nothing that I can seem to want to do. Maybe I can get in one last hurrah before I shut down my music space, or maybe I’ll do something menial like go through my email inbox or something.

Or maybe get old pictures of Ronin out. (Or that might be worse actually).
What’s your go-to movies James. Mine used to be The Matrix. I lent them to my niece a fees years ago and haven’t had them back yet. Went to find them on Netflix/ Amazon the other night and… nowhere! Nothing.
No I’ve got to try to find the DVD’s again.

I could post you my Matrix DVDs if you’re having trouble finding it. Mine have just been sat in a box for years! I used to pick up clearance DVDs at the mall after school, cheaper than the cinema and don’t have to fight anyone over choice! So I’ve got a whole box of stuff I’ve only ever watched once.

In this silly mood of mine where my brain refuses to have fun, I feel like I’m going to be bored watching something I’ve seen, and too skeptical and poor attitude to enjoy a new one. Trying anyways sometimes works though.

Lots of stuff seems harder to find these days. Spooks (aka MI5, after the security service) for example. I’ve been wanting to watch through that a second time but Netflix took it off a few years back and I haven’t found it anywhere since. I even checked BBC’s site to see if there was a way of subscribing or something. No dice.

I get what you mean about what to watch. I can stand at the shelfs where our DVD’s are and go over and over it and still not find anything that the brain doesn’t say something negative about.
Another one used to be Jason Bourne. But even that gets passed over.
I then sit and scroll through Netflix/Amazon and don’t see anything that catches my eye.
I started watching Good Omens the other night. It’s ok but it’s really not catching the attention. It’ll probably go the same way that Dirk Gently went. Started watching then … Meh!
I’m finding Marvel movies are good for mindless entertainment. Especially Those Ragnarok. Don’t have to think very hard.

Usually I’ve got some TV show on the go. Movies are harder because I want to get attached to characters that are going to be around a while. I’m working my way through Designated Survivor at the moment. It’s kinda meh, but it might do for tonight. Otherwise I’ll take another look through Netflix.

Forgot to wash the dishes, better go do that first… internally grumbling like a 14-year-old that’s been told to do homework and chores first :joy: Oh hey, grumbling, that’s better than the sad and depressed from earlier, so there’s that!

Do you have Amazon Prime Video (preferably on your TV)?

Only when I cancel Netflix and switch over for a month or two (just one subscription at a time). Not at the moment. Maybe for my next billing cycle.

Definitely a step up.:joy:
Designated Survivor? That’s the one with Keifer Sutherland isn’t it. I looked at that but like you I thought meh, so haven’t even started it.
I found Sense8 earlier this year. Thought that was good. Lots of graphic sex and drinking. But I enjoyed the idea behind the story. And a great way of setting up the characters as well.
I think the problem is, there’s now too much choice.

Got it. Well there goes two of my suggestions.

Re: Netflix… This is a bit random, and very, very likely not ‘your thing’ … but… have you seen ‘Lucifer’? I binge watched 3 seasons very quickly :joy:

Yep, that’s the one. Yeah I watched Sense8 too, thought much the same, it wasn’t entirely my preference but I quite liked exploring the premise and the characters.

The choice makes it hard. Just so much to sift through. For me the key is characters, not plot or settings, but that’s one of those things you can’t evaluate from an image, trailer, or description. Kinda just have to plunge into it and see.

@C_8 It doesn’t seem like my thing, but I’ve heard people getting good enjoyment out of it. Thanks anyways

Peaky blinders… 4 seasons with 5th starting tomorrow…been watching Hannibal on prime, it was fascinating but now it’s getting played out…

Love matrix. The story is so current…
Morning G :slightly_smiling_face:

Saw a bit of Peaky Blinders the other night. Must be 5 series on BBC. Thought it looked good but haven’t watched any of the others. Said to my wife that I thought there was about 4 seasons to catch up on. A lot of watching! If it was 11 months ago I might start it. Just don’t seem to be able to settle on anything these days. I often wonder if it is worth me investing time into, only to find it’s not that good.
Ah well, I suppose there’s always the BSG I can watch again. And again. And again.

Morning Hanana. How far you ahead of the UK are you then?
It’s 04.30 and I’m thinking about getting some more sleep if I can. Either that or putting the coffee on!

6.40 dear :slightly_smiling_face:

@ifs @anon12657779 , have you watched Mind Hunter? Not sure if it’s Netflix or Amazon…but it is pretty good.

2 hours then. Getting daylight then? I’ve just made another chamomile tea. As it stands I could get 2 hours if I go back when I finish this.
I can but try.
