Day 1 in getting clean

Tried and failed so trying again. Husband won’t stop drinking with me, kinda sucks but it isn’t his problem, he can have a drink and function. I can’t. Any input on meds to help? Heard there is something out that you take and if you drink you become sick. Input?

Congrats on 1 day!! Thats all it takes 1 day at a time.
Use this doubt as your fuel… I didnt tell anyone at first I was getting sober…I wanted to prove it to myself…after a few days I let my husband know I wanted to try a cleanse. Then told him 2 weeks later I just wanted to quit altogether.
I think for now just take it one day at a time.
Theres a saying I always liked
" when you set yourself on fire, others will come for miles to watch you burn"
You can interpret that as you being deep into addiction and others watching as you make a fool of yourself… OR you can put your everything into sobriety and relearn how to be truely happy. People will notice and some will watch in admiration while others probably wont like it and thats okay… they will watch regardless thinking how the hell do they do that?

@Restlesssoul glad you posted that. I am having a hard time today. Some coworkers were having a conversation today about when an acceptable time is to have a glass of wine. It really got to me and have been thinking about a drink practically all day.

You got this! I thought I couldn’t do it but now on day 17. Just now thay very day gets a little bit easier… so once day one is over, you have gotten done with the worst day! If you ever feel like you are going to relapse, come here and post first. Or message me. Make that promise to yourself “If I really want to relapse, I need check the forum first” then other people’s support here will keep you on the right path. I have faith in you, you took a very good and important first step. Admitting you have a problem, and knowing you need support . We all did. You got this

@Lvng1dayatatime1 Its a strange thing hearing people talk that way about alcohol. I dont know what this appropriate thing is all about, its always 5 o clock somewhre when I’m drinking… lol
But seriously, I hope you stay strong today…know that others are on a completely different journey than you, with different problems and different circumstances.

@Restlesssoul it was a strange thing to hear people talking about. It reminded me of my mind set when I first started drinking. It was also a big eye opener on how powerful my addiction can be over me. Happy to say I am still sober. Its Saturday and I got a picture project I am working on. IF I finish that, the there’s lots of other things around the house that need to get done. Busy busy busy! Lol

@LRR one day at a time. Our addictions have hurt others. Sometimes that can be promises of getting clean, but resulting back to our habits. Thus hurting loved ones. I have certainly have been there and I think it is safe to say I speak for a majority or all of us. I highly encourage you to read as many posts as you cab in this forum. There are ideas on staying sober to life in general. I am determined to read all of them. No matter how old they are. They have helped me stay on my path to recovery.
