Day 12 and want to drink

It’s real bud, it can be physically painful working through these cravings but it’s something that has to be done.
The old adage " what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger" comes in here.
Think of it as flexing your sober muscles. Building up your defenses.
Each craving you beat is another bench press.

Hey buddy, I’m not gonna read all the no doubt awesome replies you already got and just go right ahead to say: prepare yourself! Schedule zoom aa meetings and/or join the zoom meeting here. Prepare watching films, meeting with friends, when to go for a run, what you’ll eat, when you’ll cook, how you’ll spend you time. Cut this monster’s road right off and don’t allow it to jump on you. You know now that you will be struggling, so you have a headstart. Use it boy, you CAN DO IT! :zap::star::heart:

You can do it because lots of people do; it’s really hard the first few weeks. It took me more than a few times, Kip; I hope to see you very soon and we’ll be here to help.

Hey Marie, I promise you that if I can do this, you can do this.
Next time you start craving please come here to check in, or find a meeting, or do some yoga, or go for a walk. There are many different things you can do to help ease those desires. There are people on this app 24 hours a day and you should be able to connect with someone who can help distract you enough to make it through the craving.
Please remember why you have decided ‘enough is enough’. The hangovers, despair, embarrassing situations, money spent, friendships and memories lost.

It doesn’t mean you have to give up, come back when you’re ready.

Marie, If people were free from craving as early as 4 or 5 days, everyone would quit. I would have quit 30 years ago, easily.

It’s hard. We all know that it’s hard. No one is an asshole because they relapse or slip. That is a human with an addiction. Make a decision, get back up or stay down. Your choice. We’ll be here regardless of your decision.

Kicking the shit out of yourself for slipping three days after joining isn’t doing you any favors. Drink or don’t. The choice will always be yours. I hope you don’t drink.

Was this your first try? It might take a while to stick, honestly. Winning over an addiction is bloody hard work and has a steep learning curve. If you are willing to put in the work, get over your relapse and back on the horse! There is no other way. Do what was suggested to you in this thread! :muscle:

I’m only a few days ahead of you and I feel you on the cravings. The good thing is they do pass. Just look for a temporary distraction to get you through the day. I’m in the exact same boat and going for a walk and just trying to find things around the house to fix or read or walk as long as I don’t drink I will be okay. I’ve came this far and I don’t want to blow this time I already have and have to start again and with the thought of defeat. You CAN do it. Have you started going to meetings? That has been an incredible source of knowledge and sympathy and support for me and has helped greatly. This forum is also a blessing. So so many helpful and kind people here. I’m so happy I found this. Keep chugging along, dude. You can do it.
